i figured i would post this here, because it is the only place i can post...

There is a small town in northern italy called limone...they have an interesting past...there has not been heart disease there for generations...scientists studied this and find out that they have a genetic disposition for there body flooding them with high density lipids, or HDL (good cholesterol)

it is in testing right now for fda approval to release a drug based on this...in preliminary trials it has removed more plaque (not on the teeth, in the arteries :D ) than any drug has ever done, in only a matter of weeks

in the five week trial, it removed an average of 4% of the plaque buildup in the testees arteries, which is amazing

i just thought i'd share this with you guys if you have any family suffering from heart disease, or if you have a genetic disposition for it

this is interesting. my only, rather selfish, fear is that the production of drugs that alleviate heart disease will encourage overeating and the capitalist mentality tenfold.

I think it's unfair to punish people with low metabolisms for something that pretty much an entire society is guilty of, if not food than other products but I do agree with you somewhat.

Intresting, but why do I have a feeling that this drug won't be reachable for everyone and in the begining only a few will be able to accuire it. But what are the consequences for the people of that certain village do they get a piece of the pie ?

Well that is just plain not possible, and it isn't that healthy either. Everyone would need a good diet that supplies of the things they miss out when they don't eat meat. And there are many people, like me that love to eat meat and won't stop just our lifespan is decreased with 5 years due our eatmeating :P

Only in Italy I suppose. They eat extremly healthy over there. Well, not as much nowadays cuz of McDonalization, but yeah. They have pizza that is healthy, not like the US dominoes full of fat and greace that would seep through a paper bag.

Its strange that all my life everytime id get sick my mom would tell me to eat a limon. And id be "sure why not" it worked for soar throaghts and such. My point is that a small town called limone (limon) maybe would be called that for its limos. Limons DO work

another intersting fact from that story i forgot to put in was that they all smoke a lot and really don't eat that healthy, which makes it more amazing

Nah, he meant a town would be named for its limousines.... The town COULD be named for lemons. The Español word for lemon is limón, and the English word is also alike, as we know.

I have also heard the French are healthier, and I think I remember it had something to do with frequent wine. Correct me if anyone knows more.

Well my godfather, smokes 2 packs of cigs everyday, drinks over 10 beer bottles everyday and he is one of the healthiest 82 year olds I know. And he has never been ill in his life. So that proves most scientists wrong :P
