Minimum wage is $7.25 per hour ... so yeah, it's pretty decent. I mean, it's $500 per week before taxes. It's enough to split an apartment with a room mate and be comfortable.

It probably helped that i applied for 3 different warehouse positions within a week at the same place. I did those back in August. Got an unexpected call about a week ago from them and yeah.

FYI on the drivable pallet jacks. They're addicting to use. I used to have a job where we had two of them. When the boss was gone, we'd race them and also if we weren't careful, nearly take out a whole aisle of something or other with the front. Good times, shitty boss.

That isn't actually so bad...

More than enough money to live from, and not many hours, room for a part time job :)

theres still one part to overcome but i cant imagine them not completing the hiring process after the background check, drug test, and physical(first time ive seen a doctor for actual health in YEARS!) which costs a few hundred to do.

FUCK YES!

And its been confirmed. Revleft resident Shackleford, Rusty is now employed as a warehouse worker and a retail worker. Fuck anyone who ever said communists were lazy, including young me. Between party work and regular work, were busy people.

I know im back to back posting on here, but i just cant help but talking about it.

After 6 months (if i make it through the first 90 days of training) i might be able to relocate to any warehouse in the country (and possibly canada)

Whaddasthatmean? I CAN MOVE TO FUCKING COLORADO OR MINNESOTA OR PENNSYLVANIA OR CONNECTICUT OR WHERETHEFUCKEVER, EVEN OREGON AND WASHINGTON AND IOWA AND TEXAS BUT I DONT CARE ABOUT IOWA OR TEXAS YAARRRRRRRR.

I guess the point is in the long run i might consider moving within the company because wages are somewhat livable for a single person. I can move to another place and try to foster a new location for struggle and yeah.

Has anyone done this kind of thing before?

It's a damn shame and an indication of how fucked up things really are that anyone thinks it is.

If you worked full time that would be 2000 a month before taxes, transportation to and from work, etc.

Meanwhile: "The average rent for a Manhattan studio--four walls, a closet kitchen and a toilet--has increased to $2417...." - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/08/new-york-city-rent_n_530153.html

You do the math.

Sounds like UPS. I worked there for a short while. I quit because (1) they were giving us shifts that were so short I actually lost money -- I was paying more to get to work and back then I was making (2) I hurt my back.

During training, they made all kinds of nice promises to us about being able to work in Hawaii or Puerto Rico, become drivers and make good money, etc. All bullshit. The whole group that trained with me had left before the first 90 days. Turns out that particular place, one of the company's busiest in the world, has a 90% turnover rate on new employees.
