Manic Street Preachers - socialists - alternative rock
they have a massive discography and not all of it is worth checking out, but I'd say there is a lot more good stuff than bad. 'The Holy Bible' is generally considered their best, and their angriest record. Also 'Everything Must Go' and 'Journal For Plague Lovers' are worth checking out.

Gang Of Four - marxist post-punk
First two records are great, the rest is mostly poor (they turned new wave and bad new wave). First album 'Entertainment!' in particular, is great.
