Vodka and Rum. Me and some friends are heading to Orlando for the weekend and we want some booze but we're on a budget. I know some good brands but they're not all that cheap. So do you guys know any good quality rum and/or vodka that is inexpensive?

For rum, Calico Jack is probably your best option, it's meh but it's cheap but then again, I'm not really a rum or dark spirit kind of person. As for vodka I would go with Popov (16 bucks for 1.75 litres), fuck what anyone says, it's cheaper and stronger than Vladimir and tastes better. Burnetts is also good and you can get a crap ton off varying flavors but it's not as cheap for the volume. Gin is also good and you can get Calvert for around the same price as Popov or 11 bucks for a 750ml bottle of Seagrams.

Vodka, I prefer Stolichnaya, or Russian Standard. Both run at about 20 dollars for 500ml in the US if I remember correctly.
Rum, I drink Captain Morgan or crown royal for the most part if I am drinking rum. (I'm usually not)

I just got back from vacation in Kansas City and my friend was drinking Sailor Jerry (rum) the whole time. I think it was $20 for the bottle.

I believe Crown Royal is a Canadian whiskey mate.

Oh yeah, pfft hahah sorry, it's late here.
Anyways, yeah Sailor Jerry's is good solid rum. And that tattoo stuff from Captain Morgan is hella good.
I don't generally drink dark liquors though so don't take my advice...

If you don't like whiskey, you're not old enough to drink.

Agreed.
I always thought Smirnoff was the standard vodka for us kiddies, though it's more cheap than good, but I can't stand vodka anymore (thanks, post-secondary binge drinking).
I vote Captain Morgan's on the rum.

I do not know the market in orlando at all but traveller's rum is pretty bad yet cheap (I believe it goes for about 6.5 USD for a 750ml). I think a good compromise is Whaler's rum, which you might be able to get for 10 USD for 1 L.
Sailor Jerry's is also solid, but I would have to say Myer's takes the cake for rum that is fine but also a bit on the high end (about 17 USD for a 750 ml). I find both a bit expensive for me, but I also think their price is fair for the quality.
As for vodka, in Florida you might be able to get some of the central american vodkas that are really, really disgusting but also the cheapest liquor in their own country. Popov is a good suggestion, Fleischman's I've also found costs about the same and is surprisingly drinkable.
the other thing to consider is some supermarkets have their own store brand of rum vodka that is awful but usually priced to be the cheapest to be sold for like drink mixing and stuff.

Whiskey is bullshit compared to gin or vodka, that's just science.
Ask yourself, when people drink for serious, where do they go? Whiskey? Rum? No, they go to vodka, gin or moonshine, the clear spirits, that rocket fuel.

Captain Morgan is fairly smooth for a cheap rum, IMO.
Smirnoff vodka blows, that shit's too cheap. But it IS drinkable. Unlike that crap like Popov, Mr Boston, Taaka, etc. I'd at least step it up to Svedka. It's around the same price, but it's smoother than Smirnoff.
I prefer Stolichnaya and Belvedere vodkas, personally ... and Courvoisier cognac ... Wild Turkey bourbon ...

For me at least, I've always found whiskey to have a much harder price/quality curve than vodka. So I'd give it to vodka simply for being drinkable at a more reasonable price.
Good (read expensive as fuck) whiskey is the shit though.

Indeed. When I just want to get wasted I get a shit ton of vodka.

Then we must also take into account top shelf vodkas as well which I will still argue are better than the best of whiskeys. Except, maybe, I think someone mentioned a whiskey that was like some maple syrup whiskey, that sounds dank and so does Southern Comfort Pepper with tabasco.
It's on. We gotta settle this.
