This is probably a stupid question, but I was wondering if there's like a test or something I can take to help me figure out my leanings, or I guess you call them tendencies? I'm new here.
If not I'll just describe some of my feelings, and hope that you guys can point to toward a school of thought.
I want to get rid of inequality, not just economic, but also political, I'm tired of a few people having a voice and everyone else just listening.
I'm a huge fan of debate. I think the whole world would be a better place if more people talked about the issues, and where expected to be able to defend their positions in a debate type setting.
I can't stand dogmatic or authoritarian people. Ideas/philosophies should be fluid able to change as need requires them to. For instance the US constitution has become a pseudo religious document. I think my country would have been better off if we had never placed the constitution and the founding fathers on a pedestal. If the document had been viewed as a living thing open to change and adaptation the US might be further along toward socialism (as I understand it socialism is the bridge between capitalism and communism).
I'm very much a pacifist, but an can accept that any major political change may necessitate some violence. So I can see how the revolution might need to get bloody.
Some of my friends call themselves anarchists. They like to wear black and complain, a lot. What they describe as anarchist beliefs is so totally without structure that I just can't seem to wrap my head around it. I like the idea of a system where people help, and care for one another. What my friends describe as anarchist would seem to be a culture of everybody leave each other alone, and you're on you're own. Now what I've read about anarchy seems a bit less extreme, but I think I would just prefer a cooperative/collectivist society over an individualistic one.
Again I'm very new here so any direction would be appreciated.:)
