Most media accounts depict the ongoing war in Afghanistan as part of the "war on terrorism", or as a war to end oppression. But is there more to it than that?

A short introductory film will provide some historical background.
Gwynn Thomas will then give a socialist analysis of other economic and geopolitical reasons for outside intervention in this poverty stricken region.

Afghanistan has huge oil/gas/opium reserves. Of course it's a 'pipeline war'.
