My school computers, and my old middle school computers will not let me go to any site with Che in the content ( i did an experiment to test this and it is true) It also will not let me go to www.Submarcos.org (subcomandante marcos' site) of te EZLN. They will let me go to sites with Socialism in the title, but i bet thats only for Political Science classes... This is starting to piss me off becuase schools are becoming more of a jail where i sit on my ass and stare at all the advertising on the walls.

My coach at canoeing told me that if I didn't blurt out "Extremist political Views" I wouldn't get annoyed by everyone else after I said that Commercialism makes school dinners unhealthy (Which it does because it means that people don't buy healthy food so it won't be sold.)

my school seems to let me blurt out my ideas as i wish.. for english, my personal essay (the one that goes to colleges) was about how Che influenced me and how i have been influensed by socialist ideologies... in psychology, i wrote about how socialism would make the world a better place.. in economics, i have put down capitalism in every oppertunity i got... and i have always blurted anti-American-policies statements and arguements... none of the teachers of these subjects was ever upset with what i had to say.. they were rather please.. (nb. all of them r Westerners, either from America or England)... so i guess i dont go everyday to the shittiest place in the world after all..

Myself and a comrade recently had a showdown with our school regarding our right to promote our own political agenda.
We decided to organise a meeting to support palestinian rights. However we were told that this was not allowed, that we allowed only to organise a debate, in effect meaning that as school students we did not even have the right sit down in a room and promote our political agenda without that being followed by an opposing agenda. Quite obscure!
However we protested that it WAS within our rights to simply promote our own agenda and continued to organiseythe meeting semi-legitimately putting up posters covertly. The day before the meeting however, a zionist student came up to me demanding that we changed the character of the meeting by having a zionist speaker on the platform. After refusing, she went to the headmaster, who, again briefly threatened to ban the meeting. However we were finally told it was allowed to go ahead, and despite a last ditch attempt from the zionist presence in the school which involved my parents being phoned up and told that I had draped the school in palestinian flags, the meeting went ahead and was welll attended.
Just thought I'd share with you my tale of resistance to political subjucgation in the education system.
Peace and revo to you all,
Yours in Struggle,
Reuben..
I am in a group called youth action for palestine, made up of young people committed to supporting palestinian rights you can check out or even join through our website at www.geocities.com/youthactionforpalestine

that sounds bad Reuben. I'm glad our scool isn't like that. But then again we don't have any political discussion groups in our school.

If i was to even try anything like that in my school i would hate to think what would happen...
my school's charity society recently tried to organise a collection of money to go to charities which are aiding the afghani people... The Headmaster stepped in and declared that the money would be split equally between Afghani people and..... THE US! thats right, the rich, well fed US apparently need aid as much as the poor, starving refugees of Afghanistan.....
when i heard about this i couldnt beleive it, we tried to campaign against it, but we are completely powerless...

is that true CB?
that is bad. I mean yeah the people in the US have suffered pretty bad but at least they have food and money, at least they can choose their government.
People in Afghanistan are starving, they're being terrorized by their own government which they haven't elected and by the U.S. Bombing and they're so desperate they're trying to get out of there.
I mean yeah the Americans have suffered from the September 11th attacks but they aren't struggling to pay for repairs and treatment are they?
So who really does need the money more.?

Where I work blocks dozens of websites....but there is a way (depending on how it is blocked) to get pass them. Most of the time if you can get to a website that links you Che it will let you in. I did here by finding and webpage that talked about and clicked on my info and it let me in to the website.

my current school isn't too bad. I have had an upside-down U.S. flag on my back pack and the teachers don't really say anything. I guess the teachers are so happy that there is 1 open mind left in the school. (everyone else is either ignorent or a phony Anarcist)
I have been harassed by a few students. I even had one try to take it off my backpack.

i get harrassed by other students as well. Mostly people who think I and every other communist think Stalin is the best thing ever.

Generally i don't get harrassed by the other pupils at my school... not since the 'incident'....
and for some reason the kids from the lower school seem to virtually worship me, i can barely walk through the corridors without half of them shouting "MoonMan" and doing the horns of the cuckold... which they dont actually know what are, but simply see them in the context of 'mosher' things... but there you go...
oh well, anyway, less of that now...

I had an Incident as well. But it wasn't to do with socialism.
If you're really interested I'll tell you tommorow.

well, mine wasnt related to socialism, but it meant people respected me a lot more, and therefore i dont get shit about my left-wing opinions... if anything people have inquisitively questioned me on them, and have learnt a lot, which they seem to respect.

Moskitto, your "incident" sounds interesting, could you elaborate?
I haven't been so involved in my school politics (being it my 1st year in high school and the student gov't is domianated by meathead seniors and their brainless cheerleader girlfriends) And since the 11th i think that people would take my comments very badly...

I too haven't gotten into much politics at my school yet. However there is a sit in at my school this Tuesday to protest the teachers annual decline of salary. As it stands right now they are just breaking even with the standard of living.
Last year I tried to debate with everyone I could about socialism. I now realize that getting into people faces only makes them hate what you stand for. Now I am just standing back and learning all I can about economy and goverment.
I am the only Socialist in my school and I am wondering Who else is the only socalist/communist in their school.
