If you could make a movie about any event in socialist history or any revolutionary person, what would it be? Who or what would be the best story? What story hasn't been told which needs to be?

I don't know if this fits the categories, but I'd make a film about Stalin's son, Yakov.

His life story really is amazing, I'm sureprised nobody's made a film about it yet.

He was in charge of an artillery unit and was captured by the Germans during WW2, he was put in a prison camp where he later either commited suicide or was shot by a guard (oppurtunity for an alternate ending here)

yeah that definitely fits into the sort of thing I was thinking. One that I was thinking of was about Eleanor Marx and Edward Aevling. When I read the circumstances of her suicide I felt physically sick, Aevling must be one of the most disgusting men in history.

I would love to see a true film/documentary on V.I. Lenin. Starting from his childhood, the hurt and revenge he vowed to himself for the killing by Tsar Alexander III of his older brother Alexsandr. His years living abroad, waiting for the perfect opportunity for revolution in Russia.

Soviet Union made few films about Lenin and his family. For the moment I can't find with English Subtitles. There as well Soviets made good documentary about Lenin when he was in London and as well is in Russian.

I've been thinking about this every day while I'm at work.

"Red Angel". A film about Ekaterina Mikhailova-Demina, the woman who joined the Red Army as a medic in 1941 at the age of 16. She saved hundreds of lives throughout the course of the war and showed unbelievable bravery, once jumping into freezing water to save drowning shot men by nursing their wounds and tying them to trees with their belts and rifle straps- she saved seven men in this fashion and contracted double pneumonia. She then defied orders and returned to her unit before she recovered. She personally carried hundreds of injured young men from the battlefield during her four years of service. Throughout her career she was awarded the Order of the Red Banner twice, the Florence Nightingale Medal, the Order of Lenin, the Gold Star and finally the award of Hero of the Soviet Union in 1990- shamefully, every Soviet leader before Gorbachev denied her nomination. She's still alive, too.

A movie about Commandant Sava Kovacevic. When the Nazis came to Yugoslavia he was one of the most beloved Commanders of the war. He and his division were known throughout the land as some of the most fanatical Partisan warriors. He refused many amenities which came with rank, he was always with his troops and led from the front line. He died during the battle of Sutjeska when he and his division went to break the German lines in order to help the mass amount of wounded Partisans, and a huge Partisan army including the high command and Marshal Tito escape. He knew him and many of his men were going to be killed but led the charge at fortified German positions.

A neat fact is that he is my great-great-Grandfather from my fathers side, and that he liberated my Grandmother from my mothers side village from the Nazis.

He was pretty much a bad-ass, he and one of his officers once captured two Italian tanks and used the guns on them to destroy a third.

There are already many Yugoslav war movies about the battle of Sutjeska however I would like a proper high-budget movie made, centered around him and his exploits during the war.

I'd make a musical based on a modified retelling of the Marx-Bakunin conflict. The climax would be Marx and Bakunin in the streets of Holland singing this:

SlD-9D4iQ2k

To be honest, it's not really that the story needs to be retold, it's just that for some reason I don't think my life will be complete until I've seen a Marx look-a-like belting out the high notes to a Sparks song.

I'd like to see a movie about Kim Jwa Jin and the Shinmin Autonomous region, mainly because I can't find any information about it. Also one about Durruti would be nice, as would one about Kronstadt from all the different perspectives.

I know, I've seen that movie countless times. It is very good.

However, I was suggesting a movie following his exploits from the beginning of his Communist activities up until his death in the battle.

I would make a film that flashed back and forth between the life of Marx and Socrates. Both suffered injustice for their beliefs, fought status quo thinking, and made foundations on which other philosophers built.
The comparison between the two would hopefully draw thousands of college students that have take philosophy 101 into the movement. So yes it would be a bit of a propaganda piece. Plus it would help to show that communism has a basis in some of the earliest philosophical teachings, and is therefor not really all that radical from an intellectual perspective.

An opera or musical comedy about the life and death of colonel Qaddafi.

I think two 3 part bio-pics on Andres Nin and Emiliano Zapata, would be what I make. For a figure so prominent in Mexican history, Zapata has never really fully been expressed or understood, even outside Mexico. Andres Nin would be cool, just because he was an ever evolving person throughout his life.

I would create movie called "Aborted Cat". That actually wouldn't be a move but a trailer like this:

Wo-gGes6qig

So, after "fried schrimp" there would be sexy Japanese girl in school unfirom which kicks pregnant cat and then cat makes abortion... :D

A big Hollywood movie about Eugene Debs would be nice. Maybe a trilogy...

Part 1: Radical union battles to Debs becoming a socialist
Part 2: Socialist Party, IWW
Part 3: Presidential Campaigns, Russian Revolution

But only because it would be more likely to be made in the US than a movie about the Paris Commune.
