Hi all:
Various Young Commies & Revolutionaries from around the country are interested in having a convention/conference. A major problem however is the financial costs to host the event, and for individuals to travel to one location.
Though not a complete solution, an online meeting is the next best thing.
* WHO: You and any other Commie who has time/ability to participate
* WHAT: Discussion on growth of revolutionary youth groups (YCL, CPC youth, RYN affiliates, etc.), to be chaired w/ a speakers list so its productive.
* WHEN: November 9that 7pm eastern (Ontario), that is 6pm central and 4pm mountain. (Hopefully this is not too late for any maritime comrades to participate too)
* WHERE: '/server irc.icq.com', '/join #rebelyouth' or http://rebelyouth.ca/chat.html
* WHY: Because we are Revolutionaries. Because we want fundamental change and it ain’t gonna' happen if we aren’t organized. Because it’s not enough to be seditary intellectuals, and it’s not enough to be reactive activists. We must have mindful movement – action informed by theory. We have to start with what we have, and for now what connects us accross this country is the internet. Lets use the tools we have.
The discussion will focus on:
1. What trends do we see in membership?
2. How can we better organize ourselves so we aren’t overlaping/competing?
3. Can we make an outreach/recruitment strategy with real targets?
4. What supports do we need?
5. What supports can we give eachother?
The chat will be monderated, and only those on the speakers list will be allowed to send text to the channel for the first duration. When each speaker has finished, there will be a period to ask questions. To ask a question, you must send it via private message to the chair. After all the speakers have finished, the channel will be opened for free discussion.
If you would like to be on the speaking list, please send an email to [email protected] and include your name, organization, and concise example of what you will say. OR come to the chat channel early, and consult the chair.
