which band or musician --that has either broken up or dissolved-- that you wish would get back together or start releasing some new material?

This.

Piglet.

And Cap'n Jazz.

I missed Cap'n Jazz when they were doing that last round of shows and came through Philly a year or two back. There's a void in my being now that will never be filled.

Problem is that most of the artists that would be top on my list have reformed, The Stone Roses, The Stooges, The Specials, The Subhumans, The Pistols, so I'll stick to my recent championing and go with The Adverts

Refused is the most underrated band ever and The Shape of Punk to Come is one of the best albums ever. BUt it's nearly impossible that they will come back together. On the other side, Th (International) Noise Conspiracy is a great band to.

But then I do have a fucking list: Skin-Deep, 100 Men, The Redskins and The Clash.

I got to support 100 Men back in the 90's at a ska festival. Top band and Mik did try to reform the band at one point but nothing became of it.

Would love to see the Redskins back together as well but I know that will never happen. I'd just be happy to see Chris Moore (aka Dean) brushing the dust off Strummers old guitar and making music once again.

Call me a hipster bastard but I'd really love to see Jeff Mangum and the rest of Neutral Milk Hotel back together and touring again. Hell they don't even have to put out new music I really just want to hear In An Aeroplane Over the Sea live and maybe some stuff from On Avery Island.

You're not the only one. I think it'll happen sooner or later. The only one who I couldn't see back in GN'R is Steven Adler.

Joie de Vivre, the primo emo revival band from Illinois. I routinely cry while listening to everything they ever made. They broke up back in May, but they're still working on one last LP. They're taking forever, though.

What do you mean you don't see him back? Like, you wouldn't want him back if they reunite or you don't think they would call him?

It would be a sad thing if they didn't invite him in a possible reunion, considering he's the one that kinda got really stuck in the past and everything (can't post links yet, but he's been doing covers of Appetite around the world since 2003/04.)

I don't have anything against him, but I do think Matt Sorum was just as good of a drummer as he was. Plus, I haven't really kept up with Steven in the news but according to Slash's bio and numerous other GN'R books I've read (I'm a nerd, I know) he had a pretty bad drug problem which was the biggest factor in why he ended up getting kicked out. If he has kicked the drug problem, then I could definitely see him back in GN'R, but if he hasn't then I don't know.

I understand. Well, I play the drums and I like to think I know a thing or two about it, and let me tell you, they're both good, solid drummers, but, and this is just my opinion, Steven always had a very distinctive style and sound, while Matt is kinda... generic, I guess. Don't get me wrong, the guy plays way better than me or any other average guy, but in the context of GnR he always seemed kinda background-ish, unoriginal, etc.

As for Adler's drug addiction, I'm almost sure he quit for good years ago after some kind of stroke due to an overdose or something like that (which by the way left some scars on him, speaking problems and stuff).

It looks like we are both kinda nerdy about this uh?

I think they were both good for the specific times they were in the band. Adler's style definitely suited the Appetite era when the band was in it's prime with its harder style. I definitely hope he has kicked the habit.

Yup, they were the first band that I loved, haha. I've been a huge fan for years. I've read every book I can get my hands on and I'd like to check out Duff's book at some point. Ironically enough I'm a singer and my major stylistic influences are Axl Rose (who I share my birthday with) and M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold.

I saw Mick Jones last summer, so that kinda scratched the itch a bit, but still... Even if they go out and perform again, it wouldn't be the same without Joe and the spark that their time carried. Also, I agree about the Adverts, one of the most underrated bands ever.

I was in a Ska band called The G Men. They formed in 1989 and are still playing to this day. I was with them for around 18 months or so back in the early to mid 90's.

These days I play in the garage/punk band Thee Strawberry Mynde and also The Che Men (see video below)

Yes, I run the Redskins website. I must get around to finding another site as the temporary one has been up a couple of years now after Yahoo shut down the Geocities one. I also did the sleeve notes for last years Redskins CD 'Epilogue' which came out on Insurgence Records.

Yeah not a fan. Pretty sure the drummer was a founding member of slightly stoopid though. I hope to see Sublime with Rome at some point but even they are not nearly the same, or even good for that matter. Bud and Eric still got their thing but Rome sucks balls and dresses like Justin Beiber. Nowell was Sublime, the man could sing the newspaper and I would of sat in awe.

Hmmh.. let's see... being older... I'd start with The Ronettes-- Phil Spector [producer turned murderer] living his dream-- making the sexiest girl he could find a star, and then marrying her;

The [original] Temptations- tough to do since 4/5 are dead. Is death a problem?

If not, then of course Jimi Hendrix, and Jim Morrison;

then Sham 69 [I don't think they're dead].

Oh can't forget some of the disco era classics-- Vicki Sue Robinson, Evelyn "Champagne" King [they're both alive]; Morris Day and the Time; Prince and the Revolution [Prince being the greatest single performer since James Brown]; speaking of which bring back James Brown.

Spencer Davis Group with Steve Winwood, that would work.

Freddy Cannon, just to to do Tallahassee Lassie.

And the Go-Gos... Nancy Reagan's favorite rock group and vice-versa. Surfin' Birds.

Ian Dury and the Blockheads... this could go on forever....

Actually, Kurt was pretty leftist. In his journals, he described desires for revolution: "John Lennon has been my idol all my life but he's dead wrong about revolution... find a representative of gluttony or oppression and blow the motherfuckers [sic] head off."

Nirvana played at benefit shows, including some that were for causes like right to abortion, homosexual rights, and relief for the victims of Yugoslavian civil war in Bosnia.

That being said, I really miss Kurt Cobain, and Nirvana. Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters aren't nearly the same.

Kurt would wear dresses on stage, supposedly in solidarity with women or some shit. I love that guy. He wasn't that political, but he had the right ideas.
