I dont know if this is a stupid question, but how large houses would people be allowed to have in a communist society?

As I've said before, that's best left to the people living in an actual communist society to determine based on their needs and resources.

Nothing more than 200 square feet.:(
Actually, there would be no one to allow anyone to have houses or anything else. Communism is a free access system without government, where people govern themselves and land use and production of goods would be solely based on needs. So, the size of a house would be based on the need of a person or a group of persons.

There would probably be a variety of choices and the size of houses would differ depending on the culture of a certain commune.

Who knows. Like Danielle said, it's probs best to leave that to the actual communist society to decide.

If somebody or a group or whatever wants to build a 10,000 sq. foot home then whatever. It isn't like we can go around measuring every house and shooting people for living in too large a home.
o well this is ok I guess

We'd all live in mansions
filled to the brim with as many crust punks as possible

I think there should be no limit to the number of houses seized by the proletariat come the revolution!!;)

The workers councils can deny them the manpower and equipment needed to build such a home.

Yes, but you can always build it yourself. For as much impossible the task can be. I think a bigger issue than denying manpower or equipment would be denying the land to build it.

So how large a house do you think the workers would be willing to build? Off course if someone build a house himself no one could stop him, but how large houses would be built for people?

Enough to efficiently and comfortably house the needs of the family.

I do get pretty pissed off when I hear a "green capitalist" telling others to help save planet earth while they themselves live in a 22-room mansion. Al Gore anyone?

Regardless of the size, every house will have a small plain room where one can pray infront of a giant poster of Stalin.

Would you in general consider for example the average australian house seize of 215 square feet to be too much or too little for a family of 1.79 (the average australian family seize)?

I'd assume it would depend on the size of the family and how much they actually need, as someone else here said. I'm sure there would be some kind of community regulations on that to prevent people from just going hog wild, especially in a place like Japan or Gaza where there's not a lot of extra space.

You could theoretically just build taller houses.

As well as an altar for blood sacrifice, of course.

This is a bizarre question. How long is a piece of strong? How small does a house have to be to be considered too small and how big does it have to be to be considered too big?

As big and no bigger than the community decides does not impede upon the good nature of the community.
The real answer to your question: your daddys mansion will be siezed and turned into a vacation home for the proletariat  (im just joshin ya dude... but not really)

To be considered a mansion it must be bigger than the community decides impedes upon their well-being. 12 bedrooms 5 baths, definitely. 3 bedrooms 2-3 baths, probably not.

It will be as big as the Planning and Engineering Council decides. You're no engineer to decide. It all depends on the Great Plan.
(An exagerated version of my views.)

If it was a 10 children family would't 12 bedrooms 5 baths be reasonable?

Yes, I would imagine so. Some communities might not even sieze "mansions" as long as they don't infringe upon the functioning of the community.
