Hi guys,

Just made an account now and I just wanted to ask... Does communism really work? I think the system itself is a brilliant Idea, but would it ever work? How would there be any doctors and scientists if there was equal pay for all? Why have all of the pure communist countries failed? Not being anti-communist as I said I think its a great idea, I've even thought about making my own communist political party when I have a much better understanding and confidence in the system.

Thanks :)

In my opinion, there's never been a communist society, i.e. classless, wage labor abolished, an end to all capitalist relations, etc.

If someone has a desire to practice medicine or to be a scientist, and education is freely provided, why would they not do it? My grandfather wanted to be a doctor, but he grew up poor and didn't have the opportunity to be one. Under communism, if someone wanted to be a doctor, they would have the opportunity.

As for "equal pay," that implies wage labor, which is not something that would exist in a communist society.

Hi guys,

Just made an account now and I just wanted to ask... Does communism really work? I think the system itself is a brilliant Idea, but would it ever work? Why exactly do you think it is a brilliant idea?

How would there be any doctors and scientists if there was equal pay for all? There would be no wages in a communist society and so, in the absence of waged division of any workforce, the roles of doctors and scientists would continue to be performed by individuals who are compensated based on their needs.

Why have all of the pure communist countries failed?
All the countries formerly ruled by Communist parties were capitalist. The failure of those countries is an indication of the failure of a particular form of capitalism, than communism. The capitalist economies of most of the former Communist countries were based on surplus extracted from waged workers. The continued existence of surplus labor and its being reused for production is known as capitalist accumulation. This continued to exist in those countries.

Not being anti-communist as I said I think its a great idea, I've even thought about making my own communist political party when I have a much better understanding and confidence in the system.

Thanks :)Your idea about forming your own party is wrong. A party is formed by the most advanced section of the working class when the situation arises. As of now, such a situation does not exist and so, there is no need of a party. Instead, you could study the works of Marx.

Thanks :)Their has never been a communist state, they have all been attempts at socialism. It wouldnt work in todays society, that is why it is necessary for their to be a socialist state to transition us into communism. Many people become doctors in a capitalist society purely for the money, and these people usually come from the upper classes. If everyone was truly given an opportunity to become a doctor, I believe enough people would want too. They also would not be motivated by money, but by the want to help people and better society, which would make them better at what they do. In cuba, which is socialist everyone has the opportunity to have a doctor not only because of there socialist health care system but also because there are a plethora of doctors.

Cuba isn't socialist.

Doctors become doctors because they want to be doctors. In communism, superior schooling and free post-secondary schooling will allow for everyone who wants to be a doctor to become one.

In communism money is non-existent, wages are non-existent.

Everyone's standard of living would be greatly improved and at a level where they are comfortable and not in need of "money".

"Socialist qualities" don't mean much when the working class isn't in control.

I think Cuba is still a good example of how people will become doctors (cuba has a sh*t ton) even if there's not a huge financial incentive. b/c correct me if I'm wrong, but doctors don't make a lot more than your average worker there (I think tourism actually makes more money in general, and I'm sure the same is true of remittances). It could be due to the opportunity (free tertiary education), as mentioned earlier, I don't really know, but it's not the money.

How come under capitalism there is,

1 doctor for every 170 people in Cuba,
1 doctor for every 230 people in Russia,
1 doctor for every 390 people in America,

1 doctor for every 1,500 people in Iraq,
1 doctor for every 5,300 people in Afghanistan,
1 doctor for every 33,500 people in Mozambique,
1 doctor for every 50,000 people in Malawi,
1 doctor for every 50,000 people in Tanzania?

Does this "work"?

Maybe there's a better way than the wage-system of providing doctors?

Communism works because it allows people to do what they really want to with their lives. You'd be surprised how many people really want to become doctors, not because of how much they get paid, but because of the work they do.

The real question is; Does Capitalism work? The answer is no.

Welcome, Comrade!
Communism is a brilliant idea, like fire, the wheel, and the Internet.
It has worked, but only in Libertarian and Anarchist situations. The others all degenerated into State Capitalism, and were never truly Communist to begin with.
There wouldn't be any pay, as there would exist a gift economy. People would become doctors and scientists because education is free in a truly Communist society. In fact, there would be more doctors and scientists than in a Capitalist system because not only would one have those who would go to school now, but also those who can't afford it in the present system.
In a Communist system I would be a veterinarian, however vet school is expensive and VERY competitive in Capitalism, so I can't be.

No,you have to plug it in on a socket then set it up with the preferences on the manual and then you can get it working. For further information, read the Communist Manifesto.
