My name is Danielle. I'm queer (bisexual and a transwoman) and disabled. I reside near Seattle, Washington, USA. I'm 41, and I've been a socialist for two decades.

I was introduced to Marxism through the writings of Daniel De Leon, and then moved on to Marx and Engels. I was briefly a member of the Socialist Labor Party of America. Later influences include James Connolly, Rosa Luxemburg, Anton Pannekoek, and Paul Mattick.

Although I tend to agree with Left Communists on many issues, the issues I disagree on seem to upset some people, so just put me in the broader Libertarian Marxist category. I also jokingly refer to myself as a Syncretic Marxist.

I've been a member of the multi-tendencied Irish Republican Socialist Party since the late 1990s, and since 2005 have served on the coordinating committee of the Irish Republican Socialist Committees of North America, the IRSP's representative organization in the US and Canada.

My politics boil down to "the liberation of the working class from capitalist domination can only be achieved through the workers' own initiative," socialism can only be established through the mass revolutionary action of the working class, and a socialist society should be administered through decentralized and democratic bodies.

I've been unemployed for two years, and my unemployment benefits recently ran out, so much of my focus right now is on getting a new job and trying to survive until I do.

My hobbies include listening to music, reading, writing, and genealogy.

If you have any questions, just ask me.

Welcome you seem to have very sensible politics. Is one of the issues you disagree with Left coms about the question of national liberation struggles?

Yes, that would be the major one. My concept of national liberation, however, is that it's something that can only be accomplished by a socialist revolution, while recognizing that nations will ultimately cease to exist when capitalism is defeated on a wide scale.

National liberation would probably be the biggest issue of disagreement.

I'm not entirely sure that there are outright disagreements, flowing from principles, in fact, judging from your opening post. But that's a topic for another thread.

Good to have you here, welcome :)
