For some of you who don't know, I considered myself a part of Paganism (Wicca to be exact).

After much consideration, I decided to stop following my faith. I need to focus on the real world. While I will always hold respect for nature and all living creatures, I can't rely on Gods, that most likely don't exist, to help me in life. Only I can do that for myself.

That's great, perhaps someday you will look back on your religious views and laugh at your stupidity ;)

Congratulations :) You're right, no amount of gods, whether they exist or not, will bring change to our world. We need to focus on real struggles and real changes, which only we ourselves can do.

Bravo comrade! Well said, religious people run to God for every single thing they face. Deal with it, dammit!

I disagree, paganism was in the time of the Roman Empire, a remnant of the tribal society, pretty much like Judaism, only reserved for a specific group of people, while Christianity universalised belief and helped a little in the transition from slave-society to feudalism.

Today Paganism is an ''alternative'' to the more reactionary trends of Abrahimic religions just because those were capable of wiping it out of history making paganism look somehow more progressive. I would not risk to say that the class character of neo-pagan movement is petty-bourgeois. Also, arent some Neo-Nazis Wotanists?

Neo-Paganism is basically like being a westernized Buddhist, only more "rebellious." Petty-bourgeois religion.

While I will always hold respect for nature and all living creatures,You should hold respect for humanity, which allows for nature (and indeed all living creatures) to be safeguarded and their resources harnessed for the good of all.

Petty-bourgeois religion.
Interesting, what specifically about that religion do you think gives it it's class characteristic?

Interesting, what specifically about that religion do you think gives it it's class characteristic?Christianity has an all-encompassing character to it, as does Islam, and both have existed for thousands of years and are in the consciousness of the vast majority of the population of just about every country on earth. Neo-Paganism is a "revival" religion little different from deciding to one day worship the gods of Greek mythology. It has no roots among the proletariat and has its origins among petty-bourgeoisie alienated from other religions but who are also hostile to materialism.
