I doubt this will work on police zip ties and will just end in some injury.

depends, i once got deported from the EU summit in belgium with about 10 zipties dangeling from my arm as they used very shitty comercial zipties that could be undone pretty easily but for the specialised cop ones you need a knife or lighter.

the not specialized cop ones, even if their very wide an strong you can undo by tensing your muscles on the moment they tie you so you have some room to wiggle later, then if they didnt cut it off you take the excess bit beyond the locking cube and double back

or you have a hairpin, button pin or something else you can poke with and stick that in the back of the locking cube and lift the litle thingie that keeps the "lock" in place.

You can carry a tiny pocket knife ( something i have is a mini sheetrock knife, blade is under an inch ) that would be ideal for situation like these
