Hi, I'm a high schooler from regional Australia and I recently developed an interest in politics, particularly those on the left. Unfortunately, Australia, at least in regional areas, is not at all leftist. That's my experience, anyway. So, I've come here to learn more about leftist politics and hopefully engage in discussion.

Cheers

Welcome. What particular politics do you subscribe to? I'd hate to see you restricted.

I actually have a somewhat close aquintance from AU, a social democrat... better than nothing. :D

Thanks for the welcome. I don't feel that I've done enough research to identify with a particular tendency yet.

I'm a libertarian and I agree with the abolition of state and currency. I believe in worker self-governance. I don't agree with centralism or vanguardism. But I'm unsure about all the nuance, like how a socialist state or communist society would actually function. History has taught us that socialism can be manipulated by power-hungry people to the point that it's no longer socialism. That's my biggest concern, post-revolution: the implementation of actual socialism/communism. The organisation and carrying-out of a revolution raises questions, too.

That's why I'm here, though. :)

Yeah, Australia is a right-wing, authoritarian fuckhole. It really sucks to be a leftist in this country, especially in regional areas as it can be quite isolating to live in such a place, especially as a revolutionary leftist.

Hang in there and don't lose heart though because we'll keep our struggle up and be vindicated with enough effort.

Welcome to Revleft!
