Dear Revlefters!
Do you know where I can get a summary of (if possible) all types of communism, preferably in the pdf format?
By all types of communism I mean both Marxist and non-Marxist schools of communism, including types that overlap with anarchism and other ideologies.
I was thinking about a list of of names of communism types with short descriptions next to them, but of course anything different will be good too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does anything similar exist also for types of socialism?
Thank you!

Man, that's really subjective.
For instance, a nazbol would probably put themselves on that list, even though there are, of course, not communists.

This is something that is incredibly hard to do.

Perhaps it would be better to go to al the tendency groups and ask them to summarize their position.

I know that it is next to impossible because of all those zillion types and nazbols, as both of you said. Of course, I do not expect that every single type of communism that somebody ever came up with is included. Only those that have had some historical or philosophical significance.
For example, see the wiki on communism:
5 Marxist schools of communism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Marxist_schools_of_communism)
5.1 Marxism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Marxism)
5.2 Marxism-Leninism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Marxism-Leninism)
5.2.1 Stalinism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Stalinism)
5.2.2 Trotskyism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Trotskyism)
5.2.3 Maoism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Maoism)
5.2.4 Others (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Others)
5.3 Eurocommunism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Eurocommunism)
5.4 Libertarian and non-Leninist forms of Marxism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Libertarian_and_non-Leninist_forms_of_Marxism)
5.4.1 Council communism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Council_communism)
5.4.2 Left communism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Left_communism)
5.4.3 Situationist International (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Situationist_International)
5.4.4 Autonomism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Autonomism)
6 Non-Marxist schools of communism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Non-Marxist_schools_of_communism)
6.1 Anarcho-communism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Anarcho-communism)
6.2 Christian communism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism#Christian_communism)
I want something like that with short description next to it, nothing more. But of course, with more Non-marxist types than just those two. Say, up to 20 or 25 types in both categories.
Is this a reasonable number, 25?

It would certainly be interesting to have such a booklet that objectively discusses different communist schools of thought, differences and similarities.

Do the tendecy groups cover also the non-marxist types of communism (next to anarcho-communism)? http://www.revleft.com/vb/group.php?do=grouplist&cat=3
I think that Goti123 has a better idea --> such a list would be useful in the learning subforum. I am pretty sure that such lists were already written... I just cannot find any.

I don't think 25 schools of each exist. There are certainly not 25 relavent schools of thought in each, marxist, and non-marxist tendencies.
