Look at the passion of this young kid. He knows his 'End the Fed' stuff in and out.

He received some applause and praise and heck I even admire him for being so passionate.

We need to get out there and mobilize to get people educated on the social order. :thumbup1:

The fact that he doesn't want to really end the system that causes the 1% to own everything.

My strategy for opening people up to socialism is to not use the word socialism in the beginning.

Casual libertarians are the easiest (not Randroids or Ancaps or Paulbots!!) because you can appeal to their distaste for government.

I usually begin by talking about democratic control of businesses as a way of eliminating the overhead associated with massive CEO salaries (and eliminating an unnecessary, power-hungry position) which will improve conditions and wages for all the employees. Or a similar line to appeal to their pro-market, "middle-class" side. I find most people in the US who identify as "middle class" will agree with this, as many of them have bosses they find incompetent and feel they could do things better themselves.

Then I continue by casually working towards talking about common ownership of the means of production and other socialist concepts. I've found if I throw in the word socialism too early it's like they put in earplugs. Explain the basics of socialism in a way that they agree with then drop the ball.

There are SEVERAL people I've talked to casually at the neighborhood bar like this. Even though I didn't convert them to socialism or anything (well, one I did), at least they are more educated and are now sympathetic towards and respectful of socialism and understand what it is. Non-socialists have to make the final jump themselves. But by doing this you've eliminated the mental brick-wall so many people put up when they hear 'socialism' ... and that's a hell of a start.
