The illustration of people killed (a picture of a skeleton for each fatality, in lines of 20) was great. It took a long time to scroll through all of those of skeletons representing Iraqi fatalities. Also, the graph at the bottom--showing how nearly as many children have been killed by the U.S. in Iraq as were the total number of deaths in the trade towers was good.

It really puts things into perspective to think about how many children have died. As far as the Western media is concerned to tell us, there's barely been any noticable civilian casualty levels. The insist on telling us when every heroic serviceman is killed althoug the body count there is barely coming in at a trickle.

quite right, Faceless...
When Iraqis are killed by the United States, it is merely a statistic... a number. That number is not readily reported if the fatalities are civilian.
But when the human losses are American... well, that is different! I mean, we Americans are human beings! It is a tragedy if God's chosen nation suffers! I remember seeing an article in USA Today during the heavy combat phase of the war this past spring. A prominent article on the front page with large picture devoted to an injured U.S. soldier. INJURED! Not mortally injured either, mind you. A national newspaper ran a sob story of a wounded soldier on the front page!

one of the things I hate, though, is how the US likes to idolize every single person who returns to the US only to be shipped back out

Yes, but they're being liberated. Death doesn't matter. They're now free.
My question to the capies is: if so many Iraqis are being killed, are they fighting us? Or are you just killing innocent civilians? If not, then why are so many fighting against us? Do they not enjoy their freedom?

First of all, the media said she was shot and stabbed repeatedly... and that she continued to fight after being shot and stabbed. Turns out her injuries and capture are due to the fact that she was in a vehicle accident (in military service).
Second of all, the media claimed she was being mistreated and not having her wounds tended to. Total bullshit. She received special treatment (including someone to sing her to sleep, according to one report).
Third of all, the U.S. military did storm in to "rescue" her. The Iraqi military had long since evacuated from the area. The whole "rescue" thing was unnecessary. They were brandishing weapons and everything, and filming the whole thing. Some creative editing, and it was some good propaganda. Too bad it was all as fraudulent as a Hollywood production.

I remember reading that article when I was waiting for my dentist. Although, we can't say exactly what happened, Jessica tells us it was like... awful! She only went to war so she could get enough money to be a kindergarten teacher & teach the itty bitty children!
Is that how it goes?
Well those aren't stats you'll find in any U.$. gov't speeches, so I'm glad theres a site for it. Thanks for the link, comrade
There must be some serious shortage of cemeteries in Iraq

The absolute worst thing though is not the promotion of some fraudulent heros, its what they make of those bits of lucky 'collateral damage'. The media try and make success stories out of them! That Abbas kid was found with no arms and then the Western media promotes him as being a success story! The must have spent a fucking lot on air-lifting some kid to Kuwait. Enough to refurbish a hospital no doubt?

I knew that the special forces were aware that the Iraqi military had left the building, but that they had made such a show out of it :o
And to think that the US public can so easy be tricked, altough it's widely reported.

NSB,
"And to think that the US public can so easy be tricked, altough it's widely reported."
Yeah, several inconvenient truths about the U.S. war in Iraq are readily reported... in Britain. BBC and the Guardian often do a better job of reporting American news than Americans do. When George Bush stole the 2000 elections, the BBC investigated while no major American media did. Here in Lincoln, one has to have the most expensive cable package or a satellite dish to get BBC America. If that is too expensive, one has to settle for CNN and Fox News.

Yeah, several inconvenient truths about the U.S. war in Iraq are readily reported... in Britain. Not that many though. But then, I've got nothing to compare it to.
