I went to my friend's Orthodox church today and it is actually quite liberal. They, in majority, do not believe non-Christians will go to hell but that it's about how the person has lived his life. There were some other things we were talking about but another one was about gay rights- many say they are not against it either. This proves that everything about these different churches- Protestant, Orthodox, Catholic, whatever- is based on interpretation. There was also no disagreement with the idea that there should be total seperation of church and state. I have unofficially been converted to Orthodox Christianity. (Don't worry I know I'm not full communist anyways)

What do you want from a religion, forgiveness from sin? When you realize there is no go or satan there also is no sin. Its much easier to live your life when you dont have to wory about an impending doom. The existence of such varied views on the bible gives more ground to the theory that there is no devine author. There are so many different paths you can take, but you can be your own guide.

Ask them how they feel about women?
I can't until Sunday but why? From your perspectives, how do they?
How do they feel about gay priests?
Yes I know they don't like gays being priests. It is because they do not repent. I said they were pretty liberal but not fully. There should be a complete seperation of church and state anyways.

I understand this but I feel somewhat more comfortable knowing that the Orthodox church is actually based on what Peter had his church to be.

Woo Woo for Vlasov!
I'd like to correct that when I meant Peter, I meant the apostles.
