Eastern Service Workers Union

Not sure where to put this. Anyone have any experiences with an organization called the Eastern Service Workers Union? Apparently they are a very secretive socialist organization.They seem to be located on the East Coast of the US. I've been approached by recruiters from this org a few times. I've heard from someone who almost joined them that their orientation session is very intense and goes on for a whole day.

The ESWU seems to be an offshoot of an offshoot of a very secretive communist organization in the Chicago area, as far as I can tell. They seem to be very cult like.

Has anyone had any experiences with them or know anything about them?

I've run into them in the Boston area. I don't think that they're communists though. They constantly rant on about the working poor needing upper middle class allies. They don't organize workers and instead try to do charity events. They seemed like liberals to me, but I could be wrong.
