My High school had an election. We voted on the parties after a presentation from each of the parties. The parties are Norwegian, so I explained their meanings, here are the results
Rødt (Marxist) 10%
SV(left wing socialdemocrat) 10%
AP(socialdemocrat) 50%
Venstre(Socialliberal) 7%
Høyre(Conservative) 16%
FRP(Right wing) 2%
Others 5%
Maybe there is hope after all.

Hope for what? Is it surprising that social democratic parties are popular in countries that they've traditionally dominated for years? And it's not even the "left wing" soc dem party that got most of that vote! Seems like a big endorsement of the status quo, like you'd expect in most countries regardless of general political leaning. I can see the Marxists getting that kind of turnout (10% is decent), but then again it seems to be a country that's generally more skewed to the left so I'm less impressed than if, say, such a party were to get that percentage of the vote in the United States.
Don't get me wrong, looking at those numbers in general is a lot more encouraging than what you'd see in the US so I'm not knocking your country in relative terms. I just can't recognize some major shift to the left in those numbers. This is all just conjecture though, based on what little I know and the large amount of stuff I assume that I know about the Scandinavian scene, so feel free to put me in my place. :)

I doubt any of the people who voted Marxist actually knew what Marxism is, or took this election seriously

The main reason to why this is good numbers is because of the right wing, they usually get a fifth of the votes. The social democrats got so many votes because the prime minister visited our school.

The Marxists are quite popular where I live, they got around 5% of the votes in my town at the actual election.:)

Why all the pessimism? I'd like to see an American school boast similar statistics and then we'll talk about no hope, it's the same in my country where most people are pretty much apolitical. Almost no hope at all.

Good thing to see FrP landing at 2%, since high school students easily get swayed by their liberal alcohol-politics.
Other then that, not much to say.
At my high school, 6 years ago, the Pensioner Party got alot of votes.
For fun. So I wouldn't take it too serious.
Btw, where in Norway is this?
