last.fm scrobbler

Do any of you folks scrobble?

For anyone that doesn't know, scrobbling is basically just a real-time record of the music you play from a media player of your choice (either on your computer, your android/iphone and some portable music devices). It makes nice little bar graphs of your listening history and can be to find similar artists.

My mate recommended I make one and I'm really enjoying it. One, because it allows me to stalk what he's listening to. And two because it encourages me to listen to my music more methodically and cover more ground with what I'm listening to.

What do y'all think of it? Any fans? Any ex-users?

I use it sporadically, it depends if I'm in a constant music vibe or not... right now I am.

last.fm really did help my taste in music grow, it is a fantastic site that integrates your lived experience of music with other possibilities of things you may be interested in.

It may be primarily built on a profit-motive (i.e. advertising artists/musicians), but it has a really good value outside of that I think.
