Any Brits (or others) done this example citizenship test (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/blog/quiz/2011/oct/11/uk-citizenship-test-quiz)? I managed to get 18/24, which apparently means I would have qualified to become a British citizen. Hurray! How about the rest of you?

Oh, and yeah, what a crap idea. And if they really are supposed to answer these totally irrelevant questions that even native-born Brits wouldn't know, then...well...

I failed with 14/24

Big deal wouldn't wanna live in Britain anyway.

I got 18/24 myself. I doubt many British people would get more than 20.

I agree though, many of the questions are irrelevant. For example, the one about when the first British census was held. The 1801 census was basically nothing more than an headcount, and it wasn't really until 1841 that the census was more detailed. Why would someone in 2011 need to know that the first British census was in 1801 in order to pass a "citizenship test"?

You scored 15 out of a possible 24
You have failed, the pass mark was 75% According to the Life in the UK Test, you have insufficient knowledge of the English language or of life in the UK to remain

Those tests are ridiculous. There's one in Norway too. Most Norwegians wouldn't pass it.
So why are we asking immigrants to pass these tests?

D'oh!

Well, I'd best tell the family that I'm going to be deported then.

Slightly off topic, I saw a few questions from citizens tests from England, the US and the Netherlands.

Questions from the US were something like "who were the founding fathers?" or "when was the constitution drafted", "year of independence", etc. Dutch questions: "how do you make tea?". Seriously.

Also, other questions in the Dutch test are utterly ridiculous and completely irrelevant. All of my all-white Dutch family too the test, all failed.

My brother got 8/24. True story.

Another true story is that for the Hallowe'en question...all the options would probably have the desired effect...the same could perhaps be said about the job application question...

10 out of 24

Seriously, what kind of crap questions are these? 'How might you stop young people playing tricks on you at Halloween?'... I just don't answer the door at Halloween, 'Who is the monarch not allowed to marry?'... who gives a flying fuck?!
Irrelevant questions (except maybe the speed limit one) for anybody who wants to claim citizenship in this country, we might as well deport everybody except Stephen Fry.

Glad to see people here did worse than I did.

There's a Canadian version for this as well with a similar story, most Canadian's wouldn't be able to pass it (It's Canada though, we don't turn down anyone :p ).
