If anyone would like to discuss any of what he has said, I encourage it. I know what he says he often repeats at different venues, but on the other hand, we all do this.

Zizek is truly.... A worthy asset of the Left.

I kind of slammed Zizek earlier on a similar threat but reading the transcript he's spot on, except for what he says about the Tea Party. The Tea Party has a petit bourgeoisie class basis. True there is some commonality between the crisis facing this layer and the working class, but I don't think its enough to say about Tea Party supporters that "they are right to be angry, they are just blaming the wrong people". A few grains of truth to this but overall it's more complicated than that.

In some of his books Zizek has called for an alliance or at least an understanding with the far right-the Michigan Militia movement, the Tea Party, etc. He's mentioned the Pete Seeger story before.

If the working class is united and has clear class based demands some of the Tea Party constituency will come over to our side but that doesn't mean at all that we should attempt to appeal to the far right. Karl Radek was wrong.

Well, the Tea Party is a self-employed, proto-fascist movement. Even many small business owners don't have time to tot around like the Tea Partiers do.

Radek may have been wrong somewhat, but Trotsky was further wrong.

It can be done but we, the left, should also drop certain taboos: discipline, hard work, following orders on things on which we agree can be positive and important.

This. I am sick and tired of everything MLs did right as being thought as authoritarian and that any of things listed above are bad.

Zizek is the man, no ifs, ands or buts.:thumbup1:
