I'd say this ranks pretty high on artistic merit and quite clever. Every once in a while I guess the cappies at Sony get it right (I haven't touched their console since they disabled alternative oses on it), I guess even sometimes commercials can be pretty good. I'm curious to hear its effect on gamers. If you play a lot of video games, how does this resonate with you?

I loved it, especially because they put characters from classic games in it, rather than just using it to market new ones.

Kratos' head is too tiny.

Now I'm not going to bull shit and say I play a lot of games, I don't besides the occasional gears match on my brother's xbox.
But that being said I was quite impressed by this. I saw it on the front page of youtube not too long ago and decided to give it watch. I think it's excellent marketing as most commercials seem lazy and are just re-hashed, over-used concepts. This is new and catches the attention quite well I think.
It makes me think there are some people out there who still care about quality and meaning, even if it's just in games. It shows someone has a passion for what they do which is always very nice to see.
Well done, I say!

I also enjoyed the commercial. Clearly a lot of hard work was put into it by people that really know what they are doing.
Isn't it cool to see gaming become so mainstream? When I was a little kid my parents thought it was a phase.

It's less of a commercial than a tribute, with the company's name in there only as a credit.

Well, from my knowledge all the game characters they placed in the commercial were games which Sony published.

Metal Gear and Final Fantasy XIII I know weren't published by sony. They just put characters from games on their console.

Well, that's obviously because of copyright stuff. The point is, it really wasn't an attempt to plug anything, or to sell a product, but to give an homage to gaming itself.
Edit:except for like one second at the very end.

Ah,that is right.I was confusing the PS3's major games for Sony as the publisher because they are so intertwined. My mistake.

Lol, not a big deal. It is true they are only showing off games that are used on their console though.

My personal favorite cameos were 47 from the Hitman series and what I think might be S.T.A.L.K.E.R. cameos in the background at 1:38.

I'm pretty sure that's a guy from Killzone or maybe Metro2033. STALKER was never on consoles.

Probably, but their outfits look really similar to theirs. and I can wish. They ought to make more of these and put more characters in.

I loved it.
It's hard for me to explain to people who don't get it that I play video games for story, character, and atmosphere. The same reasons I watch a good movie. Not to kill time or to frag. There is some quality storytelling being done in games these days, I think some people can't see it.
I should just show them this when the topic comes up again.

I've always enjoyed the the PS3 commercials, the ones with Kevin Butler.
I'd watch this one, but I'm busy jamming to some instrumental post-rock.
