Well I've been thinking, if let's say the construction workers had built enough housing to house every single person, what would they do then? Should workers be motivated to create an abundance of housing, more than is needed? I don't mean just for houses, but for everything. Food, clothes, dishes, home appliances, ect. should warehouses be made to hold the abundance of goods so whenever Jim Bob's toaster breaks he just calls up the Toaster House and gets a new one? Or what are your ideal ways to handle an abundance of goods?

o well this is ok I guess

This is, of course, assuming the materials for a house are exclusive from the material for any other object, right?

Well yes, I guess I should have said resources as well as consumer goods.

That really depends upon how you define "adequate." If you define it to mean that we don't need to improve the quantity a resource, then we won't need to continue to improve it.

That's a complex social decision that people can collectively make about available resources. There isn't a general answer. Things like housing require regular maintenance, and consumables, food included, obviously need to continue to be produced at a regular rate. But how much surplus to acquire, given people's preferences, growth rates, economic and environmental constraints and so on - there isn't a general answer, that's just a decision people will have to make for themselves when we get there.

Megaprojects. Flood levees, earthquake defences, supervolcano defences.

Basically this. There is so many things that can be done that we can't even dream of. Abundance would probably be the last phase/stage of Communism, kinda what TVP advocates.

And there would have to be a TV show with the same name.
