Dear RevLeft,

I am currently reading a book from Henri Barbusse that was published in 1934. It is a biography of Stalin, it defends Stalin, it describes the archievements of Stalin and the USSR and many more that is worth reading. Are there more people here that have read this book?

I've read extracts only, in wider works dealing with the cult of personality. Barbusse's account is typical of the fawning hagiographies produced by Western 'fellow travellers' at the time. It goes without saying that from a historical perspective is has almost no value
