Introductions are so awkward, but here it goes anyway...:blushing:
Hello! I'm Jennifer, I'm a sophomore in high school, and I've been lurking this forum occasionally for the past few weeks and I'm quite interested! I was happy to stumble upon this forum while doing some research for an English essay on class division and capitalism; I found that many positions expressed here match my own, and I loved the issues addressed in these forums. Anyway, I'm a history/social studies fanatic (people are just so interesting!) and I plan to be a teacher of some sort one day (maybe or maybe not in the literal classroom sense; my disdain for the education system here could be too much) because of my love for learning and I feel that with my skills, talents, and passion, it's the greatest contribution I could give to my society. I love music as well, so that's always a nice thing to talk about. Oh, and I'm atheist. Not sure what else to write about myself now...
The tendencies described here on RevLeft have scared me a bit because they are seemingly so specific, yet so blurred to me, so I don't subscribe to anything. I look forward to learning more about the views here, and clarifying my own in the process. I see no point in going up to a capitalist and asking them what communist/socialist/etc is. I'll ask a communist/socialist/etc. And so I am here...
Not a very specific or elaborate introduction, mostly me rambling, but it's only a hello. :D

I'd tell you, but I'm relatively new to the movement, but don't worry there are plenty of intelligent comrades here.

Hey Jennifer, welcome to RevLeft, you seem to be quite open minded. Care to describe your current political and economic leanings?

I hope this doesn't come off as patronizing, but your writing strikes me as that of somebody several years older than a high school sophomore. I'm not calling you into question or anything; I'm just surprised and impressed.
Not sure what else to write about myself now...
Well, what's the most bizarre injury you've ever had?

Hi Jennifer, great to have you here. I'm in a similar boat as you, still learning
My political leanings have been highly influenced with what I saw happen to my family as I grew up. My parents are immigrants and the Canadian dream (like the American dream) is a joke. Did you read any of the many Marxist books available? I just finished reading the Communist Manifesto for the Nth time. Great read through, just take your time with it.
Anyways, welcome aboard Comrade Jennifer! :)

Welcome to Revleft Jennifer! Hope you'll learn as much as I have.
The title of this thread got me stunned for a brief moment, because over here in Europe red is left. :D
As for tendencies, don't worry. There are plenty of people who don't really belong to one.

I'm surprised Smyg you didn't come off with the whole "Not enough info, mrs-soon-to-be-restricted" You are doing progress!
Welcome here. If someone comes out as an asshole remember you can always ignore their posts using the ignore list feature. I wish you the best on these forums. Hopefully you won't get restricted, but that depends on your views. I have a feeling you are quiet acceptable so you could be here long.

Welcome to revleft jennifer. In regards to tendency, I can only quote myself in another recent intro thread:
I suggest you develop your own perspectives and analyses of pivotal events (such as the Russian revolution, etc.) first by reading a range of authors, and then if your perspectives and analyses happen to be aligned with a tendency then so be it. Tendency doesn't actually matter in the bigger picture of real class struggle out there in the real world and personally I'd argue against aligning yourself with any of the multitudes of extant "communist" tendencies out there. Besides, more-or-less "orthodox" Marxism seems to be making something of a comeback on this site anyway ;)

I can always try. :D

Welcome to the forums.
The tendencies are more or less the preferred methods which can be used so that Communism can be achieved. However, everyone's goal here is Communism, a stateless, classless society.

Welcome Jennifer. Are you by any chance a My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fan? The brony goal is world domination. Our method is love and tolerance. That is the best tendency of them all.:p

Welcome to the boards. If you have questions just go ahead and ask in the learning forum and if you have specific questions about a certain tendency you can get a better clarification from the groups themselves at the bottom of the page on the main page.

Lots o' replies....thank you all!
Dumb: Not offended at all, thank you! And as for the most bizarre injury I've ever had...a papercut haha.
GatesofLenin: My mother is an immigrant herself, and has never bought "the American Dream" bullshit. And no, sad to say I haven't read any but I do hope to find the time to read some literature I've already seen mentioned here :)
Smyg: Haha, well that made my attempt at a clever title all the more successful! And yeah, I won't worry too much right now about tendencies...not as important in the big scheme of things.
Aleenik: I haven't heard the name My Little Pony since I was about 8....so I'll go with no. But I'll get behind tolerance :)
#FF0000: Thank you! And so I guess that's a usual for Aleenik...
BE: Salutations! :)
stageleft: Hello! What part, if you don't mind me asking? If you don't want to say, it's fine haha.

Welcome to RevLeft! The organization I'm in is having a two-day conference on socialism in Texas at the beginning of November. Let me know if you're interested as it should be a good learning experience and a good way to meet people who feel the same as you about society in a broad sense.

I am very interested, thank you! PM me some information? Like specific date, time, etc. I'll see then if I can go, it would be a great opportunity. :)

Don't feel pressured into labelling yourself. Just hold whatever views you hold and take them on their own - labels are really just for other people anyway and they aren't always totally accurate.
welcome to Revleft, if you have any problems or troubles while here let me know.
