I've recently started college, im going onto my 7th week so far and im loving it. I have quickly realised there are a fair amount of "open" minded individuals in many of my classes. I usually figure this out with them coming up to me and asking me about my tattoos, a red/black star and revolution in Russian on my arm, which then sparks a conversation about Anarchism and Communism. This has proven quite effective; i've opened up a few peoples minds to communism/anarchism but i feel that its not effective enough. Does anyone have any literature i could pass out, that might get some key points across and appeal to people within the 18-30 demographic?
I just feel like i need to do more to open people to leftist ideas.

Thanks for the help in advance,
AB

If you're only there Seven Weeks I wouldn't go handing out literature, unless of course someone seems like they want to know more about the subject. In my experience you'll only look foolish if you become evangelical about it. Instead join a political society or maybe talk to someone who has expressed an interest in it.

Im glad you are enjoying college. Best years of my life anyway. :)

If you are interested, both myself and thesadmafioso (to the greater extent -- i just provided advice) were involved in forming a socialist organization on his campus.

It's the "League for Student Socialism and Democracy".

We were hoping to spread the group to make it a multi-campus, multi-school organization.

If you want help forming or if you want to be a part of LSSD let me know. Thesadmafioso has fliers, and other such things you could use.

If you just want help with your own, that I can do as well.

That's great that you've managed to get in touch with some fellow revolutionists and that you've managed to open a few people up to the idea. Like Die Rote Fahne said, I've been organizing on my campus for the past few weeks and I've managed to form a basis for a socialist organization at my campus.

It sounds like you already have made a few contacts, so perhaps you could get them together and form an organization of your own to help fight for a socialist agenda at your school. If your interested in joining the League for Student Socialism and Democracy and building a branch at your school, I could lend you some of the lit I've made up for it thus far and perhaps we could collaborate on additional pieces. Essentially we are trying to make a national/international banner for student organizations with a revolutionary leftist outlook, one armed with a clear set of communistic aims and intents. I know groups like the SDS are still out there, but I don't think they have the necessary theory or organizational structure to really have much of a lasting impact on the course of revolutionary politics in the world.

It's still in its formative stages at my campus and I have yet to have anyone establish another section of it beyond that, but Die Rote Fahne and I have discussed it to a great extent and would be very interested in doing so. We would certainly welcome any other participants in our efforts and would love to extend its work to a larger scale.

Here is the link to the topic we've been posting in, it contains a good deal of the lit I have been using as well as the now ratified constitution of the LSSD. Even if your not interested in working directly with us, the topic still has a lot of advice provided by other users on campus activism that could be useful to your efforts.

Why not? I'm proud of what i believe in, they have only helped me open people up to leftist ideas; they have yet to get my ass kicked by a gang of neo nazi's but if somthing like that were to happen im willing to pay that price even if it is terrible. I've got something most leftists should have a "spine"

I am very interested with that, there are no other socialist or leftist organisations at my college, there is a club for Conservatives though...
:blushing:
Ill check out what you have posted so far and ill give you some feedback. I'm not too into reinventing the wheel so ill just see if i like what you are doing; there are ZERO when i mean zero im not exaggerating anarchist or communist groups in LV its pretty much DIY here; id like to change that.

Yeah, I know the situation, my campus was devoid of any leftist group when I arrived there as well. You seem to be in decent shape though, if you already have a few revolutionary contacts who might be interested in joining such a club.

Well, get back to me if you decide to try to start a branch at your college and feel free to send any questions you might have about organizing a campus my way. I'm not too experienced, but I've had a bit of a crash course on the matter in the past few weeks.
