View Full Version : Pop Culture Propaganda

Die Rote Fahne

During the times of WWII, and the Cold War, many major cartoons featured propaganda ranging from anti-Nazi to anti-communist, etc.

For example, one of my favourites because of the random ending:
jt3daGeAe9s

Another example would be:
y00ygpgALi0

So, what take do you guys have on this? Do you think there are subtle propaganda messages, or obvious ones as in these today?

What are some other notable bits of pop culture propaganda have you seen, or you thought were funny, interesting, or you just know of?

EDIT: I'm unsure if "Non-Political" was the appropriate subforum...

The first one is copying off the Great Dictator, though I loled at the ending.

I don't know if I'd call it propaganda, but poor/working class people are intensely marginalised in pop culture. If it's not flat-out glorifying rich people's wasteful spending, it's about this mythical "middle" class that never has economic troubles.

This. It's kind of like lying through omission. I've also noticed that latino/hispanic people don't seem to be represented very much in pop culture these days. It's like, if they want to make a commercial or whatever "racially diverse", they'll just throw a black guy in there and call it good.
