Press Release Source: Apple On Wednesday October 5, 2011, 7:34 pm
CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.
Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.
His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.

I'm sad that someone passed away- that's kind of rough- but I read this as:
"His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were torched by his extraordinary gifts"
I then thought of the X-men which I'm not a fan of or anything but it reminded me of people with extraordinary gifts. Like Rogue and Storm. Storm is pretty cool- that would be intenese to be able to cyclone at will. Just now thought I thought of Dr Hammond from Jurassic Park and the video game Trespasser. I liked that game a lot- it reminds me of a painful time. In May the rains came.

I'm... I'm not really sure how I feel about this.
It's not joy, nor sorrow. It's not apathy, but it's... something.
It's like finding out that an old classmate has died who was really popular, but you didn't really know him. In a sense, you knew of him, but had no personal feelings towards this individual. Sort of an "Oh, that's... interesting. How unfortunate for his loved ones".

What did he do with his money? Was he a philanthropist, or did he keep most of it?
I'm wondering how big of a payday someone is going to get from his death...

Eh, capitalists will operate in capitalist interests. I think people place too much emphasis on 'morality' (and individuals) in these cases. If it wasn't Steve Jobs, it would be (and will be) someone in his place.
I can appreciate the role Jobs played in home computing, as I can with Bill Gates, and so on and so forth.

Yea, you have a good point there. It's regrettable that his company exploited workers and engaged in child labor, but it's still rough to go through cancer and death. I forgive him, I guess.

Yeah, yeah, he was important to computing, innovated some things... Really cool. But if it weren't Steve Jobs, would've been another one; there were many other people behind Apple! And better than Jobs, like Wozniak! Another man to profit and extract value from the workers, another billionaire who would be swimming in money.
And what's the sense of creating a good computer, but so expensive just a few people can afford it? Well, because many stupid consumerist fanboys will! What's the sense, in computing, of creating a closed-source operational system? There's no excuse for it; the intentions are simple: PROFIT PROFIT PROFIT.
Ironically, dead or alive, he made no real impact on the lives of many people sadly lamenting his death.

Turns out he was a fuck anyway:
http://www.christianpost.com/news/steve-jobs-ignored-poisoned-workers-pleas-for-help-at-apple-factory-54908/
A Christian source but still...
Two years ago, workers at a factory in Suzhou, China, were poisoned when Taiwanese electronics supplier Wintek, which was working under contract with Apple to make the touchscreens, replaced alcohol with N-hexane in the manufacturing process to speed up production.
Prolonged exposure to N-hexane has been known to cause damage to the central nervous system, and when workers affected by the chemical wrote to Jobs, asking him for help in medical treatment and compensation for lost wages, they allegedly never heard back from anybody at Apple, much less Jobs.

Yeah, its sad that the Apple CEO finally lost his battle with PC (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yl3UMO-TkE).
Wait...I have more!
"Reports are coming in that doctors tried reviving him, but it turns out that the defibrillator required Flash. Too zune?"
"I guess Apple's CEO is full of worms today"
"So there were these two cancer cells. One said to the other "Hey, let's get jobs."
"I guess an apple a day didn't keep the doctor away."
*Note all of the above are things my friends and I have posted on facebook. We're horrible people.

It's very eerie how flippant and often cruel we can be about a human being that's died. I agree that it's not really news-worthy (like 'Lady Di' and any othe famous persons death that makes the media salivate with rubber-necking delight). But the 'news' is a result of ..well..the News..and Apple releasing an official statement about their former CEO's death.
If you don't care, then that's fine, but saying 'fuck that guy' and 'good riddance' seems really unneccessary.
...the jokes are quite funny tho.

Under no circumstances should people be happy about someone's death. It is the most cruel thing in humanity I think.Despite Jobs was a capitalist,I was really sad about his death. But he also left very much money for his children and family,so despite the fact his family will be sad about his death, they would have money..

The fact that the personality cult around this useless parasite is so prevalent is the most offensive thing of all. People seem to associate with him and see him as one-of-them or something to an extent that you rarely see with CEO's. Goes to show the extent of the cultish nature of Apple and the cleverness of their marketing departments.

He's only remembered because he was a rich capitalist who used unfair labor practices, yet so many die each year who've contributed much more to humanity and are simply forgotten, as Stalin said - "the death of one is a tragedy, the death of millions is but a statistic".

Apparently one of his final projects was to make a statement to his kids explaining why he didn't spend more time with them.

He cut the philanthropic program when he retook Apple and refused to reinstate it. Obviously charity was not a priority for this man, a supposed pescatarian married in a zen buddhist ceremony. Let this be the poster child for "lifestylism"
At least Bill Gates will probably have a footnote mentioning what he has done for helping people suffering from diseases lead better lives in the Encyclopedia Sovietica. Steve Jobs should have none of that.

Indeed, my general sentiment to your supposed insight is summed up here:
http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=puns
In short:
The sheer level of narcissism it takes to think that anyone gives a shit about whether or not you meant to write your pun is mind boggling. If narcissism were measured in units of mass, the skulls of people who pointed out puns would crush in on themselves in a giant black hole of stupidity.
