View Full Version : For those that have seen American History X
thriller

Does anyone else laugh historically at the scene where all the nazis are at the party and there is American flags and people in SS uniform and even a guy dressed as Hitler? Maybe it's just me. That movie really makes me cringe, but that scene is just ridiculous.

I believe the whole point of the movie is to make people cringe and be uncomfortable it isn't exactly an exciting lifestyle that is for sure. To be honest I have always found it weird how Neo-Nazis will fly American Flags alongside NSDAP Flags it is a very strange message.

Good movie. But it shows a way too light view on fascists, IRL Nazis are much more stupid and sick, ever been to Russia? The truth meaning of psychopathic people.
The scene just portrays them as sane people who are misguided when in reality they are really sick and should be killed. Or maybe being too violent i guess. ;)

American Neo-Nazis tend to be like that, it seems. Swedish and Russians ones, from my experience, tend to be far sickening. And violent.

Maybe your friend was being sarcastic or making a radical joke?
The movie is a message against extremism in general but preaches conformity etc. Pretty good film though

That... is so out of context.
How so? That line is a common misconception among people who have heard about that film, I even thought that before seeing it. It's confused with, ''Nigger you just fucked with the wrong bull''. Hearing the, ''Bite the curb....'' line it most likely turned him off seeing the movie, for all he knows it could be a movie that preaches white nationalism. I don't see how he is speaking out of context

The line is out of context, as it on it's own - as you say - implies something else than the movie's actual message.

Indeed, the movie is showing through his actions that he is completely out of control and out of touch with reality. I mean he curbstomps a guy for trying to steal his car? I mean the smile while he is being handcuffed was pure genius as it displays how fucked up his thinking is.

I Completely Agree, But I Wasn't Making A Point To Begin With, As I Said I Have Never Seen The Movie Myself, And I'm Positive That It's Contents Contain More Than Blatant Racism, I Just Thought The Quote Was Offputting.

To explain, the movie is heavily anti-racist and anti-nazi. Said quote is taken from a scene when the Neo-Nazi main character jumps into a murderous rage and brutally murders two Afro-Americans. It is indeed an incredibly off-putting scene, as it does a very good job at showing how disgusting and just plain wrong the violence is.

Different people have interpreted the movie in different ways. I've seen clips and montages from the movies being used by neo-nazis to spread their message.

I don't think he's "out of touch with reality", maybe yours... but reality is there's people like that out there who smile when they are arrested or being mug shot... and who are out of control and commit crimes everyday. The only difference is that he's a neo-nazi and other criminals are not.

Do you mean violence in general or just mindless, cold blooded murder much like the act of Derrick kurb stomping a gang member?

Cold blooded, mindless, overly violent, hateful violence is bad. All violence isn't, hint hint.

We're on the internet discussing a movie, couldn't you be doing something more productive with yourself? Why aren't you agitating in the streets right at this second?
I was here to discuss the thread but the way you type totally distracted me. Not trying to troll, just saying you might want to use correct grammar and not capitalize every word that you type. Now I'm thinking about how the hell such a habit could come about and how annoying it would be to actually type like that. Like how long does it take, wouldn't pressing shift at the beginning of every word be very tedious? Sorry if I'm being all Spell Cheka on you but I had to say it, and it's still bugging the crap out of me

Um, no. They are misguided people, not sick monsters. Regarding them as sick monsters is not only counterproductive, it's the antithesis to a material analysis of society. They're no more "psychopaths" than anyone else. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milgram_experiment)

His writing is grammatically correctly. TYPING IN caps RandomLy DOEs not affEct thE GRAMMAR. Like this writing with text the wrong all round makes it incorrect grammatically. Also used tense and plural and adjective wrong make it grammar uncorrect.

I have met many of them here in Sweden. Some are actually 'sick monsters', others 'misguided'. I'm inclined to say that the people who, to take an example from an event that happened in Sweden a decade or so ago, tie down homosexuals and torture them with electric shocks and stabbings for hours are monster, really.

But seriously leave him alone i was like him when i was younger, i can recommend Firefox to him a much better web browser that has spell checking, that way he can learn himself and eventually turn himself into a grammar nazi. lol.

They are sick monsters, even that doesn't describe them well and would be a disgrace to the name 'sick' and 'monster'
Even animals doesn't do fucked up violent and useless things like they do, yet we fur farm and misthreat them where we should do the same and misthreat them, the right-wing psycho-sociopaths, instead.

Having every word capitalized (while annoying) won't get you in trouble, but using sexist language will. I'm not trying to make it sound like the mods are big, bad, and scary. I just think it would make you a better person in general.
American History X is still overrated /bad contribution for trying to stay relevantly on topic.

Check out the Milgram Experiment (the link in my previous post). It's material conditions that drive people to do things like that. Sure, some may have psychological dispositions that make them more inclined to do those things, but relegating them to the simple status of "monsters" is immaterial and self-defeating. How do we confront things like fascism or capitalism if we view all of its proponents as crazy monsters? Kill them all? Yeah, okay
(before one of you says "yes, we should kill them all", do you think every person that supported the Third Reich should have been executed? what about soldiers in the U.S. military?)

Yeah lets kill them. Self-defense comes before anything else. Even workers who have been perverted and brainwashing to the last extent are a enemy if they are about to shoot you.

No shit they are, but that doesn't mean they're monofaceted monsters. Treating them as such completely ignores the need for an analysis of the material conditions that drive people to act in certain ways, and ignoring that makes combatting these issues in an effective manner pretty much impossible.
