I'm a huge Star Wars fanatic, I love BioWare games and I love MMOs so it's only natural I was drawn to TOR.:) Anyone else planning to play it? I've been following it for years and I was pretty active on the TOR forums (Around 6,000 post). I pre ordered the Collector's Edition and I can't wait to actually get inside the game.:) I'm going Republic and my main will probably be a Jedi Knight.:thumbup1:

Also, I'm looking for a guild. Any suggestions? I want to roll on a PvP server.

EDIT: After searching some I found there is a TOR thread from last month. Sorry.

But it still sounds like they haven't gone far enough.

I just wanted KOTOR 3. Why do they have to make it a stupid mmo? :(

I'm personally hugely excited for TOR. I can't wait for December 20th to get here. On the topic of guilds, it really depends what you are looking for. RP,PVP, PVE, etc. Let me know and I'll try and help you out.

i was expecting KotOR 3 as well. Actually i've been sort of waiting for a really long time for a KotOR 3. However the mmo will sort of be like a never ending KotOR game so i think it will be awesome. This was my attitude towards the game since it was announced. All i want to know is how much it will cost.

i loved kotor 1&2 and i was heartbroken when they announced that the next kotor game will be a mmo. i hate mmos with a passion, i mean if you like mmos, wonderful, but i hate them.

so im not loking forward to this game, i hope they will one day make kotor 3(singleplayer) and dont fuck it up(im looking at you dragon age 2).

For the basic edition of the game it's 50 dollars for the box and 15 a month subscription fee, which is standard in the industry. The collectors edition is 125$, but honestly unless you are a huge TOR or star wars fan, you don't need it.

Only 15 dollars? i could easily afford that once i get a job, which will probably happen by december 20th. Just to be sure, where did you see this? Thanks.

One thing im happy with is that the game actually plays like KotOR 1 and 2, with improvements. It's not something people unfamiliar with mmos will have a big problem with. i've never played an mmo, ever, but watching the gameplay videos its easy to see that they didn't depart too far from the gameplay of the original games.

Guh. I was really looking forward to the game, being a long-time fan of Bioware and Knights of the Old Republic, but now I don't think I can afford it.

I would get it if it wasn't so expensive. Not only is it $15 a month the game itself is $60 and that only comes with one month. That is the price of a AAA game minus the monthly fees. It is ridiculous imo and I don't think any game is worth that much. I will be waiting for Guild Wars 2.

On a side note, I ended up starting a TOR Anarchist/Communist guild because I couldn't find any. No, I'm not the leader though. There is no leader.

I was into World of Warcraft a few years ago. After walking out of my room and discovering that a few months had passed, I decided to forgo future MMOs and fill that hole with something less soul-siphoning.

I played WoW for 4 years, but by the time Cata came out it had just lost it's luster. Looking for another MMO I tried Star Galaxies, I found it boring as shit. Next I tired City of heroes/villains and despite the fact it was really well-made and should have been fun, I just couldn't get into it. In fact the only video I have enjoyed playing recently in Minecraft. Maybe I am just burnt out on video games, I have The Old Republic pre-ordered but I am not sure if I should cancel it, hopefully I will get over this "anti video-game" phase by December 20th

I am actually the same way with video games now;there was a time where I would be able to play a game literally from sun up till sundown, but now I find I only play for a couple hours a week if even that. The games that I do play are the high profile games (Final Fantasy,The Elder Scrolls, etc) and games which give me a good story or that have gameplay mechanics which are different and unusual.

I think it has to do with all the same kind of games out there:all the shooters are the same, how many times have we seen this cookie cutter RPG,how many times have I seen this boss, this dungeon puzzle.this kind of leveling system? Been there done that...a hundred times.

The Darkness 2,Final Fantasy Versus 13,Mass Effect 3 and maybe TES:Skyrim are the only games I foresee myself playing in the future.I am trying to save money right now so spending it on games I have played a thousand times before just isn't my thing. So I guess you could say I am burnt out.

The KOTOR series is reason enough to hate capitalism. It all started with KOTOR 1 which was a brilliant game... but then the second one was rushed for a holiday release and left half completed. And now since its more profitable to release some stupid MMO and charge 15 dollars a month for it, we likely won't see a KOTOR 3 any time soon.

I remember liking KOTOR 2 a fair bit back when I played games more regularly. It's a bit of a pity that they had to follow it with an MMO.

I never bothered with KotOR 2. The first was a masterpiece of roleplaying goodness, though.

I have mixed feelings about KOTOR 2. On one hand it is without a doubt the best game I've ever played, but I kind of dislike playing it. It's so disappointing to see all the wasted potential...

Wasted potential? The game was awesome! I think it may have even been better than the first. The only issue I have is how the later parts of the game were unfinished, but there are mods that fully restore, fix, and add new content now.

One thing I dislike is how in the official canon Revan returns to the light-side. He is my favorite Sith and I wish they had gone with the dark-side ending and just had something else topple the empire...

I agree fully about KOTOR 2, I can't belive how rushed and incomplete it was. However, I'm actually hoping Bioware does something great with TOR. I do realize that there is a money aspect involved, but a small part of me hopes that Bioware choose to go the MMO route for artistic reasons since it comes them a much larger canvas to paint on. However, I would not be surprised if EA forced them into this and they are just making the best of it. Seriously, fuck EA!

You should really download the community mod that restores content and finishes the game.

Not everything was restored in the KOTOR Restoration Project, but it certainly makes the game a lot more playable. The problem is that KOTOR 2 is such a difficult game to mod.

Also, after the game released, Obsidian petitioned Lucas Arts for a patch where they would restore all of the cut content, but Lucas Arts denied it.

I have to admit that I'm not that much of a SW fan. My gf is the SW geek. I had the chance to participate in a test weekend playing the game for 3 days. The game was better than I thought it would be. My gf actually loved it and she can't wait till December. The overall experience was great, and the cutscenes and full VO were really nice. First time in my life paying attention to what a quest giver had to say:D There are some stupid minor choices BW made concerning the game but I hope that till release they will improve them.
