Hello there.

I'm new to these here parts. My name's Dogen-Sing.

I've swung to the left for a while now, having been a part of a very small anarchist scene in Tampa while I figured out my beliefs. Eventually I had something of a revolution in thought, leading me to abandon the 'folk politics' of my parents and American society-at-large. I realized that human well-being is intensely hindered by dominating power structures, oppressive social relations, and ethnocentric normalizations. Despite a life-long aversion to labels, I finally decided to call myself 'anarchist', in addition to 'feminist' and 'queer' (both in politik and in gender performance).

The type of anarchism I currently find most appealing is libertarian socialism. I still have a lot to learn, however, about it and leftist thought in general. I'm currently working to understand much more of anarchist and feminist thought, the works of Michel Foucault, labor movements in the United States, the Zapatistas (and Latin American liberation movements in general), and Marxist theory. I'm also interested in applying the ideas of Zen Buddhism to political theory and praxis. Any advice for me on researching these or other theories, movements, and philosophies will be greatly appreciated.

I'm currently working with Tampa's (and to a degree, Sarasota's) radical/leftist scene. I work with the Tampa Free Skool, a radical, decentralized approach to education. I'm also helping with Occupy Tampa, and am about to join the local IWW chapter.

Glad to be here; I hope to learn and discuss a lot!

Welcome Dogen. I hope you learn a lot from reading and posting here. I know I have.

I was pleased to see you mention Zen Buddhism. I've studied Zen Buddhism myself and have found the philosophy to be immensely helpful. Being an atheist I don't subscribe to the supernatural parts of Buddhism, but Zen doesn't have that problem, at least not in the Suzuki Roshi and Thich Nhat Hanh traditions.

Welcome comrade! :)
I like libertarian socialists. I am not very keen on buddhism but that's your choice .
