Destruction of the Forum - going downhill

Look what has happened to this place, we used to discuss important issues now all we talk about is idiots like fantomas. We are being unproductive and this is exactly what capitalists want. We've recently had some great topics posted and they've recieved pathetic responses. One good one was the israel/ palestine issue, last i checked 5 people replied. This is pathetic and we better start shaping up instead of arguing about bullshit. Peace

Well... I know this kind of thing can be quite discouraging... and ends up with people leaving as we had last month with Myodren of Che leaving... yet we have more on this bb than we had then...

Anyway... what I'm saying is... this will soon pass I'm sure. Give it a few days and people wont be as upset about him... and things we go back to normal.

man, that's not what we're discussing here. now that we've got over the initial shock of having capitalists amongst us i think it's actually turned out quite well. i mean, deabate is more heated now i think and people are having to argue their cases stronger than before and question their doctrines. we're not just preaching to the converted anymore either and there's a nice sense of community and pluralism. i personally wouldn't want to see you or reagan or any of the other moderates leave. i think it would probably be a blow to the forum as a whole, just like losing any member of our community. but people like fantasmos who just come here to disrupt and abuse should be stopped, because they ruin it for all of us, left or right.

I actually think the forum started falling apart when the WTC attacks happened.

I dunno but it seems loads of right wingers came on and people didn't tolerate them and it all fell apart from there.

Or maybe it's something deeply phsycological caused by the attacks and that's caused us to become intolerant.

I am perfectly happy with dissent and debate, as long as it is constructive, like it used to be when it was all people of a roughly left-wing persuasion arguing over what action to take etc, as opposed to what it is now which is just one massive argument of left vs. right, communism vs. capitalism. It is absolutely pointless, achieves nothing.
And agusto, I have never said you guys are here to intentionally disrupt the board, but you are here because you enjoy the argument, but it is the wrong kind of argument for this board, this is a board for leftists to argue with one another and develop leftist ideas, not a board for plain ideological conflict.

If you remember that rant I wrote down there in "Chit Chat".... "Fascist Spam"... (a bit over the top I know)...

Anyway... I was thinking exactly how you are right now when I wrote that... We used to have so much more discussion on this bb... now... as you say it's all capitalism vrs Socialism/communism... No one can ever start a thread to discuss 'what action to take' because it just ends up being the same few people against the same few people... on a never ending war of capitalism vrs Socialism.... and to be quite honost... while trying not to attack anyone personaly here... it's driving be mad.

As in any political system with a diverse base of ideas there has ensued on this board a polarisation of concepts.
Instead of us being able to develop our ideas, instead of being able to discuss the intricacies with one another, the details, what we think, and how to do things.... Instead, we are all drawn together against a group of other people, who are also polarising, drawing together, and not constructing on their opinions.

I think that no one should be banned because they should have a freedom of speech where ever they decide to go. We may no agree with them and they may be racist, sexist or against everyone else butt they will realise their mistakes by our subtle encouragment and ignoring them. Where would we be if people didn't speak out against the masses???
