The capitalists/imperialists do what they want and are exempt from any kind of national or international court of justice – Iraq was invaded unlawfully, drones are killing people without trial in countries NATO is not at war with, Ghadaffi was overthrown for oil, George Bush committed war crimes, financial institutions committed fraud and got bailed out, there is no representation in politics etc... Does this mean we are reaching a point (or have reached it already) where democratic institutions become irrelevant? If so, how should the international left respond? I think it is evident by now that simply blogging about these issues and pointing out hypocrisies will not work. Any thoughts?

Your forgetting that we live under a bourgeoisie democracy and never was a democracy for the workers. What we're witnessing now is Post-Cold War effects of a nation built on war being the last superpower and is now malicious and causing trouble all over the world with no other superpower to hold them back like the USSR did.
