From the Bible belt.....
A pastor beat up his own son with the help of several members of his congregation (and the son's uncle). The son had attended church with his boyfriend, and the pastor didn't like that.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why a orbital, nuclear strike is the only way to be sure.

Feel free to include contributions to my own Queer News thread;a story like this would be perfect for said thread.

@ the topic: ...is it a sign I am becoming numb to the bullshit of the world when I no longer am surprised at what the religionists do?

Yes it is. I've read about so much shit like this that it's hard for me to even get angry about it much less surprised. I'm just so used to it. It's really kind of sad, actually.

Now, let's not tarnish the name of genuinely mentally ill people by associating them with these reactionary scum.

What else can be expected? Religion is the bane of human existence.

Exactly. I have no problem with faith per se, I just seriously can't find any reasons to prove any religion at all is in any way true, and then why would I want to believe in something that's obviously false? I'd rather have my freedom than think that I'm about to go into eternal suffering if I don't follow 2,000 year old laws.

I believe that if God did exist, he'd be face-palming at the sheer stupidity of his followers.

Jerry your dear PA is a juvenile delinquent. Don't lose hope he might grow out of it.....but don't hang around too long to find out....my 3 year old grandaughter addresses gays of your age as ATAY (older sister) and older ones as M'am. I am not aware of how why or even where she learned to be respectful to gay folk...just grateful that I don't have the job of explaining things to her. 'Cos she and her older sisters are driving me nuts asking questions about everything a 1000 times a day......My wifey runs a modest lodgings for students and we are one big happy family....the girls are happy, parents too, when gay boys share a room with their young daughters. Apart from once a month when the lesbian (tom-boys)couple throw each others clothes out of the window, peace reigns supreme.
GOOD LUCK JERRY...y'er got y'r whole life ahead of y'er!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's so frequent and prevelant in society that I shouldn't still get angry at this shit, but I do. The fact that this is his son makes it worse, for me. Looking at pictures of my baby boy right now and I just cannot fathom ever wanting to hurt him in ANY way for ANY reason, let alone pulverising him for his sexuality.
Sickening.

As each day goes by I become more and more sympathetic with the Red Army soldiers who razed the grounds of Holy Sites and Clerics.

Not really all that surprising. West Tennessee evangelical church, sounds like a description of a place openly gay guys, like myself, should avoid.
I applaud they're bravery. Showing up to church openly gay with a lover is a bold move. I do however wonder what reaction they expected?
Being gay in front of evangelicals is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. There's no excuse for the assault, but I doubt the couple expected to be welcomed with open arms.
I assume that they did it for shock value, and expected to be shouted out of the church. It's an interesting tactic for gay rights, shock our oppressors into doing something illegal, then hope that a news story about it goes viral.
Perhaps I'll dress up in a 19th century woman's party dress. Then go to a tea party rally and shout "Where's the tea? I'm here for a tea party."
