Oh how I love you.
Helped my friend's mom move to Sparks, NV this weekend and it was awesome. The work was hard but good, my exercising over the summer seriously paid off.
The thing I liked most was just the thought of 400 miles of hardly anything being east of where I was. And everywhere I turned, i saw hills and mountains. Also, Fallout New Vegas was spot on with the terrain

Love visiting it, wasn't that bad growing up there. Although I don't think it was a very kid friendly place. By that I mean you're surrounded by a lot of gambling, drinking, smoking, etc, I think it's more of a place I'd live after I'd retire. There's just so many people just trying to fuck you there in my experience. And the racism, so much racism...It's kind of hard to explain but it's just so much more different than California in my experience. Is it warm up there right now.

My friend's family was not racist at all. during the whole two days i did not hear one racist comment. (they are a very 'mixed' family). Only a few knew I was a communist but i didnt think it would be right talking about it, instead i just tried to forget stuff for a while and just do shit.
there is a reservation near by though. A few months ago, an indigenous man was attacked by some whites in the area. Oh, and American flags seem to be much larger, and in more places.... lol.
As for the gambling. Its incredibly well... shocking to see 6 video poker machines in each gas station.

Well not every family is racist but in my experience it's a lot worse than California. Since I've moved back to California I've had a few physical encounters with racists but not many and I moved back years ago. I learned what racism was in Nevada when in 3rd grade I was jumped by a bunch of 5th graders for being a "race traitor" hanging out with Mexicans. I lived in an area where there was maybe 4 white families and literally hundreds of Latino families, obviously I'm going to hang out with them. But our neighborhood would basically get raided by a bunch of racists at LEAST once a month. Not to mention the police constantly patroling the place harassing people especially the illegals and I think it was even worse on the reservations with the police. That was in Carson though, I've never lived in the Reno/Sparks area. Lol yes gambling EVERYWHERE! Have you gone to the casinos yet? The Peppermill has such a good buffet and so does The Atlantis. But just walking around Circus Circus and shit is fun.

Never been to the northern part of the state. There is like nothing in between here and Reno. I also hear they dont like us show boating southerners so I stay away.
Every gas station is a casino, even grocery stores. We love to blow our money. In Vegas there has to be a bar with a casino in nearly every block.

Well that's what it seemed like to us. Just imagine you're outside with a dozen or more people playing football in the apartment complexes parking lot when all of a sudden a gang of racists seig heling ride in on their bikes and just start fighting you for no reason.

Well we had a pretty decent crew going and we could hold our own. It wasn't always that intense but there were a few times when the police or ambulances showed up. Shit got real fun when we started skateboarding so I always had it with me lol.
