Comerade:

Hollywood has, so far, not made any films sympathetic to the Revolution in France.

The closest we get to something different than A Tale of Two Cities and The Scarlet Pimpernel (and its sequels) crap peddled by Hollywood is a Polish production (subtitles provided) of Danton.

There's also a few silent films (again, not very sympathetic), such as:

And this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napol%C3%A9on_%281927_film%29

Also, from the 40s, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reign_of_Terror_%28film%29

And this long one from the 80s

The Flames of Paris is certainly better history than "the scarlet pimpernel."

The best film about the French Revolution is La Marseillaise directed by Jean Renoir and released in 1938.

There are not a lot unfortunately, but I have a couple for you:

Danton - (1983 I think)

La révolution française - which was mentioned above (1989)

But honestly your best bet would just be to read... :p
