So yeah, pretty much. I am not really asking for a handout or anything. Just trying to deal. FYI 2000 kr is about 294.81 $ not counting my 737.02 $ debt to dad, but he's pretty okay with it.

I can't help with money. I hope you feel better real soon and your financial situation improves.
Best of luck
Edit- I hate ending texts and messages with phrases like 'best of luck'. It sounds like 'well I'm leaving you now forever'.

Yeah, anyone have any tips on how to avoid the twin-mistakes of either just ignoring everything or going into an anxiety attack?

I don't have experience with debt but the best thing I can recommend is slowly save to pay off your debt while trying anything to keep your head up.I'm sure you have thought of this but it never hurts to hear it some more.
Hope you clear everything up :)

I feel bad. You are one of the best posters on this forum, FWIW. I did understand you were facing issues, I don't know the whole situation. When I clicked on the link it took me to an early version of the forum.
I am somewhat heavily in debt myself at present otherwise I would help.
There are companies in the US which "consolidate debt", they add everything together and arrange for smaller monthly payments. They take a cut of course but it may make things easier.Their business is booming right now, not surprisingly.
Would substitute teaching (supply teaching in the UK) be an option? Could you teach or tutor Hanyu? Could you teach ESL or Swedish in Taiwan or the PRC?
I do hope things come together soon.

Nah, that's the secret revleft forum:lol: Actually, it's just a different design, that they put in the .org domain. So to check the link, just change the domain name from .org to .com. Or you can just go to PYHO which is where that post occurs.

It's a really crappy situation, and i'm sorry to hear you're in it. Being in the situation myself, i really even can't buy you a beer, but i feel with ya. Would be kinda nice with a revolution... As for the anxiety attacks, i've realised doing something really stupid lightens it up, like watching a season or two of The Simpsons. However, that doesn't solve anything.

its shitty to have that sort of debt, but first thing is that dont worry too much about your phone bill. worst can happen is that it goes to collection which ruins your credit history but whatever who cares about credit anyway, unless sweden is is in the 19th century i doubt they have a debtors prison or something. second, look for a job man. i mean its pretty bad out there but the whole "i shouldnt look because its bad out there" is really self defeating and tbh a bit lazy. i had a friend who avoided looking for jobs because he would get anxiety attacks, and he eventually got one and this was in motherfucking michigan. better to try to do something about it than wallow in your own misery. third, would your parents accept you in their place while you get your shit together? idk how european families are, but unless your dad is on economically stressful situation (i dont know your dad) i doubt they wouldnt accept you at their place for a second. i mean you are their son. living with the parents also gives some order in your life and its cheaper to help with food and some bills than pay rent. i dont know man, its pretty bad out there, but there is no excuse to just sit there while you get fucked, when there are a few things you could be thinking about.

Yeah, you gotta find work somewhere. It doesn't have to be a "career." There must be some crappy job with low wages you can land, even day labor, that you can do until you get out of the hole.

Well, yeah self-defeating is pretty much the right word there. But yeah, I've been living here for a month and haven't started looking for work yet. Shitty little industrialtown, but yeah you're right.

You definitely should look and apply yourself big time. Ask friends or family in the area, if they can help out by spreading your name somewhere, or if they know of a spot somewhere they work or frequent, that's currently open with a job or might be. It's really one of the best ways to get a job in todays economy, no matter where you are. I have a cousin who's just a teenager, no job experience, but got a job in a restaurant within a month or so of looking because my aunt knew a guy who was moving and had to quit his job, so my cousin took it.
Ask around, and you should find one. Saying you can't, is as it's been said, self-defeating and won't help you out anywhere down the road.

Do you know how I could get a job doing that? I'm quite serious. I have wanted to work for an international NGO. I have found that international aid work is an extremely difficult field to get into. I am a liberal arts person, I do not have a specific technical background, which is a requirement, and I've been told one needs to have a lot of personal contacts in this field, which I don't have.I have spent much time exploring this.
Would you have any suggestions how to break into this field?

...and that is why we are here, to liberate the proletariat from the bourgeoisie grasp of death. Maybe you could find work through someone you trust, and join a union. :thumbup1:

Do you want to volunteer, or do you expect to get paid? I am asking because there are different types of volunteering, and each org has different rules and goals. Also are you sure you can manage in a third-world country - heat, especially, but also dust, poverty, culture shock?

I've been unemployed for two years, and used up all of my unemployment benefits. Broke and depressed is something I'm familiar with. I don't have any advice, but I wanted you to know that someone out here empathizes with you.

I am broke and underemployed too and living in one of the most expensive cities in the US. I have tried a little bit of everything to make ends meet and slowly pay of credit card and student debt.
Solidarity.
Maybe collect cans and bottles to redeem for money? Do they do that there?
Donate blood or sperm? Craigslist odd jobs?

I need to get paid, I have substantial debts myself and I'm not in a situation where I can do volunteer work. I've spent a total of four years living in Third World countries and I've spent extended time in remote and poor areas of Central Asia.I just want to do something besides ESL, which I've done a lot of. I have seriously explored the NGO route, I've found its very difficult to break into without a tech background or knowing lots of people.
I don't want to derail this thread, which is an important one about a good person down on his luck, caught in the capitalist meat grinder. I have been in that situation myself.
In the US virtually everyone I know in their 20s or 30s who isn't an IT person or doing the MBA thing has been homeless at some time. Its tough and getting tougher.Capitalism doesn't give people second chances. When our class takes power things will be different but right now its difficult.

My mother used to do that when money was low. In the main cities, the homeless and beggars do it a lot.

check my album if you need more.
As for the anxiety attacks, best I can suggest is seeking help or looking up some self help guides. Reading/writing poetry to your self, meditating, I would suggest seeking psychological help but sometimes that can be pricey. Hang in there man.

Yeah, I have some cans stored up. I am pretty sure the apartment is in no danger. The person I am renting second hand from is alright. I'll be a bit further in debt though, but yeah.
As for donating blood, besides not being something you can get paid for, I have had sex with men so legaly I can't.

I know how you feel, you're depressed because you are broke, which makes it harder to go out and collect cans or whatever to make you less broke, so it doesn't happen, which makes you more depressed and have less energy... its a mean cycle.
You can get paid to donate blood in the U.S.

Consider donating blood plasma if you can. I know in the US you can do it like every 2-3 days, and last time I checked it wasn't striking gold, but I believe the payment was $30 dollars per donation.

I think most of us been there one way or another. Broke and depressed too. I have a terminal illness and me,husband +2 kids barely surviving on $700 month of my disability check. He can't work cuz can't b left alone. Have vascular ehlers danlos syndrome. Past 5 years been thru 6 surgeries. 2 ruptured colons,2 colostomys, blood transfusions, sepsis, internal abcesses, ruptured placenta, etc too much to list. Went to social services for help and was denied because "no proof I'm critically ill enough that husband needs to be my caretaker" on top of this just got out of week hospital stay due to acute respiratory failure, I flatlined,no pulse,no heartbeat, oxygen level 28, only reason I'm alive is it happened 5minutes b4 husband took daughter to bus stop so by chance he was here to do cpr + call 911. Paramedics brought me back. And medicare says I don't qualify for bipap or cpap, etc. Spent rent $ on nebulizer + med supplies.about to b evicted. This isn't a poor me story I am grateful I am alive but wtf -how can social services deny us like that. I don't know what to do. We have nothing. About to b homeless. Anyone have any ideas of someway I can get help fast? Evrywhere tried said not enuf funds or months on waiting list. Amerika is fd up.

I believe most of us here are in debt in some way or another, it's the freaking system we live in. Myself, I'm in 5 figures and see myself getting out in about 5 years at my current work rate. Try to look for ways to improve your situation. Good luck comrade!
