Funny incident I remember...

So, as I have stated before I am often between Serbia and the US. Well on my last trip to the US one of the people I was with noticed my Serbian ID card which is in Cyrillic writing. He looked shocked and immediately said "You guys write in communist letters!?" .... I just sighed and said.. "Yes...we write in Communist letters..." and walked away.

Some people just need to be sent back to school... I later laughed but at the time I was shocked at the accusation that a form of writing can have a political viewpoint...:laugh:

Wow. That is great! My friend has spent a lot of time learning Russian and German. He said that because he knows both languages he knows Polish as well. Is that true?

Generally speaking if you know one Slavic language you can get by okay in any Slavic nation...I can see it helping him in Polish as they have some German influences in their language. I doubt he knows it perfectly but it is true. For all the Slavic language speakers there is an "official" Slavic language which any Slavic speaking person can understand. I think it is the most awesome thing ever.
