Ok...well the translation of the article couldn't be worse...

But here is what went on.

A woman who is married and has two young children has a husband with serious disability and how needs to live in care facilities. The woman is currently the sole provider for the family.

Now...according to the Dutch law...this husband does not have any work and so...according to the law...he is therefore considered at home (!!) and considered available to be taking care of the children. Therefore the family does not qualify for childsupport. The income of the woman is insufficient to provide for her family in the circumstances.

There is no exception to this for the serious disabled. If you do not work and have children then you are considered to be at home and taking care of them in which case the law dictates you do not qualify for childsupport. This also goes for unemployed by the way. As soon as you are long term unemployed you do not qualify for childsupport because you are at home taking care of the children.

Aside from the fact that this is complete and utter bullshit...because when you are very rich and both parents work...you do get childsupport....this is also very discriminatory against the disabled, chronically impaired and sick who are not able to provide childcare.

Now...the fuss is NOT about this fact. Because you know...we hate it when people get handouts and freeload

The fuss is about what the Tax employee did. Tax employess are NOT allowed to give advice. But tyhis one did. In the form of the following. He wrote that the family does not qualify for childsupport. But in the case of long term seperation (in other words: divorce) a family in their position would qualify for childsupport.

Now everybody is outraged. Because quite obviously you can't give advice.

Fortunately in the wake of this outrage te law has now come under scrutiny.

Now the Tax office said they think it is very unfortunate they do not have the authority to make exceptions to laws based on very urgent and poignant cases.

The Christians are offcourse outraged at the law now... because it forces people to divorce (the logic is baffling) in order to be able to qualify for childsupport while we should all be cherishing the loving care this woman provides for her husband. And we simply can not have people divorced over such financial situations. But they wer responsible for this law when they were in government in a coalition with the current ruling party. At that point everybody in parliament pointed out what that law would do for the disabled and chronically ill....and they didn't care.

Now all of the sudden they want to change the law they themselves implemented. Because of the divorce advice

Well..if that is what it takes to change a stupid and discriminatory law...than that is what it takes.

But it uderlines the moral depravity of politicians.

Here is the article...but as I said...google translates made this look like a 2 year old wrote it.
