Being from Estonia, it would be very interesting to hear the opinion of you my fellow revlefters about the increasingly nationalistic and right-wing politics in the country.
Since the second declaration of independence, my country's political climate has been steadily leaning towards the right and thus the division between social classes, poverty and also ethnic discrimination has risen.
For example I was listening to the national broadcast yesterday and in the riigikogu (that's estonian for 'parlament') a member of the leftist-central opposition asked the right-wing prime minister how he could state that the standard of living and the economy in general have risen when the figures for joblessness, total % of people living under the poverty line and the disparity of income have all risen by a third, the prime minister responded by telling the opposition figure to read the national statistics and look up the numbers for human development on it.

Opinions?

I heard the speech of President Ilves at the UN the other day. He is quite a piece of work. Speaking about the rights of small nations and self-determination while his own country denies full rights to ethnic Russians. He and Netanyahu are the world leaders who sound most like arrogant American politicians.

Indeed, his little "independence speech" a few weeks ago was outright revolting to hear, this is a man who cowered in the US for much of his life and decided to "return" to his home country to what? Occupy a symbolic position to guarantee his bourgeoisie bottom a fat pension till the end of his life.
