Why are there so many ridiculous, hypocritical, social norms in capitalism? For instance, hoarding. Those who hoard random items are looked at with disgust and even laughed at for their mental illness. While those who hoard land, money, capital, wealth, ect are looked up to as role models and as great, ethical people and are even put on magazine covers ect.
Is there any leftist reading material on things like this?

So hoarding land is justified because it is a profitable enterprise? (in those words too :bored: )

Is that money not useless to them if they never use it and it is just passed along to their heirs, continually sitting in a bank while people starve.

Let me know if you don't understand, what is your first language?

I think Tommy is (or was anyway) drunk, lol.

Anyways i agree. those who steals and exploits the land of the most majority of the world (workers) are more criminal than those who do it out of survival, i dunno with these fucking "social" norms and why they exist but i hope we can get rid of them.

Tommy didn't justify it. He just explained (quite accurately IMHO) why individual hoarding is seen as mentally ill in a capitalist society. Just another irreconciliable contradiction in capitalist society.

¿Que?

Plus, those who control the economy have a lot to say about what constitutes social norms. Like, um, the ruling ideas of the era are the ideas of the ruling class or something.

I think materialism is the word you're looking for. Basically, why the hell do people think they need so many 'things' to be happy? Or, why the hell do you spend 4 hours in front of the TV and another 4 hours in front of the Xbox every day?

Good question...
