Does anyone know of an easy way to do these without using html code? I know with MS word it's like you use shift+altGR+`+vowel (I think). But I don't have Word, I only have open office.

Windows 7 has a character map (which lists all available characters included in a font. You can select characters and copy and paste them into whatever program you're running) that can be launched from Start>Accessories>System Tools>Character Map. Vista is probably similar and the last experience I've had with XP was in 2008, so I don't remember where it's located in XP or if it was indeed included.

I'm aware of that but it's far too slow and cumbersome for me to use on a regular basis. Thanks anyway.

This will tell you how to set up a US-International keyboard. This will allow you to type accent marks. I believe the grave accent is just the "`" key plus the vowel you want to put it on.
