View Full Version : A Canadian Comrade's concise address.

Hello there my good brothers and sisters. Without delving too deeply into a proper explanation of how ecstatic I am to have found such a thriving community of fellow revolutionaries and theorists, I will say that I look forward to joining you all in the eternal revolution against our economic and social overlords, and that it is my hope to be able to contribute something of worth towards our movement in my own manner or form.
As a brief introduction, I will say that I am a Canadian student, studying history and anthropology with the hopes that I may someday use this knowledge to help write for emancipation of my fellow workers, and hopefully use my skills to aid in the establishment of a more just society. (As they say, people without an understanding of their history is like man without a memory!)
Admittedly, I am not a political scientist, but roughly, my beliefs regarding the subject of government are based on elements of traditional Marxist theory, merged with certain Trotskyist ideals and modern ideologies such as Libertarianism and environmentalism. Essentially, it could be said that I advocate the idea that the working class should be organized under a democratically elected vanguard party who would lead the the way towards establishing an international union of self-sufficient communes, which would be individually governed in a manner similar to the theoretical system of Council Communism. Hopefully you, my comrades, will be able to better structure my beliefs from a less uptopian idealism to a more practical and applicable method.
In the end, I am ready to learn what I can, aid where I am able, and ultimately to join you all as we move ever onwards towards that glorious Red Dawn.

Welcome.....
"Red Dawn"? ..."certain Trotskyist ideals and modern ideologies such as Libertarianism and environmentalism"? ...neither of those make a whole lot of sense.

Haha, welcome comrade! Don't lose to much of that utopian idealism. I think the future is going to be a lot grander than a lot of us think.

Red Dawn in this context is but a droll little metaphor I mused up for the purpose of describing the day when we revolutionary leftists have attained what we desire in society.
And as I said, I am not a political scientist, and am still formulating my opinions regarding politics. What I mean't to convey is that I agree with parts of Trotskyism, as well as Noam Chompsky's theories about Libertarian Socialism, and also a have strong sense of preservation towards the environment. (I've read a bit on Eco-Socialism, although in no way claim to be expert on the topic) but I will say that it is my opinion that capitalism's exploitation of nature is just as grievous as its exploration of the people.
Now as stated originally, it is my hope that you will all be able to help me bring some sense to my menagerie of myriad opinions. And if possible, definitively direct me to an ideology which best fits my beliefs.
I do apologize if how I worded anything in my above post is in anyway confusing or verbose. But if I recall, a great man once said revolutions are always such. :p

Greetings comrade and first and foremost welcome to revleft from a fellow Canadian. I must say that you sound a little like me when I first joined this site and seem to have some of the same ideological leanings that I did as well. I am sure any help or information you need you will be able to find on the forums and feel free to pm if you ever wish, I am always glad to converse with Canadian comrades.
Would you care to answer what province you are in? Or are you involved in any organizations?

I honestly don't buy the "utopian" label. It just gets used to describe any position that the person using it doesn't like.
That said, welcome to the site. Just hang around and with enough learning you'll form your own positions in your own time.
