How can i help sherman?

As most of you may know webmaster Sherman Austin of www.Raisethefist.com was arrested for bullshit reasons and Homeland security AKA bush's gestapo threw him in jail for one year, three years probation...and i think a five thousand dollar fine.

I have total support to get sherman out of prison, but i dont know how i can, i've started making buttons that say "Free sherman" on it, so every kid at school who asks me who sherman is and i explain and they're on his side, i give them a button and tell them to spread the word....Now i dont see how kids wearing buttons in a Michigan highschool is going to get Sherman out of a California Prison, is there anything else i can do to help? Any suggestions that dont envolve me getting arrested?

Great idea - I'd love to help the man out - he has done a lot to be proud of.

I am afraid I don't have many ideas - but I will definitely be watching this thread for good ideas :)

Try Malte, he should have some ideas. Also try abstractmentality (i think it's hi anyway), he went to some sherman support event a while back (the review's in this forum), he might be able to help.

Ahh. I was wondering why you discontinued your posting in that thread. I don't think you made such an arse out of yourself, and especially since you were one of the many who made the same criticism (much to my dismay, however, and they were mostly anarchists).

If anyone really wants to help Sherman Austin, I suggest you write him a letter to get out of the USA.

If he manages to come out of prison alive, chances are he'll continue to be bullied and harassed by the authorities, and end up in prison again. Plus his freedom to use a computer is basically gone.

There is no chance that he'll be able to have a decent life.

Hello Lupe,

Miss you Mucho. I haven't been able to call you or my mom because they've
put me in "the hole" here at Oklahoma. I've been in here a week so far. They
moved me up here last Tuesday. I was just watching TV in one of the rooms
and the Guards called my name and handcuffed me and put me in here. It's
where they keep all the "high security" prisoners. I'm locked in a cell 24
hours a day. The only time I can come out is for "rec" which is twice a
week I think, for 1 hour, and they put you in another small cage outside.
It's like the same place I was in when they held me in last time, but my
charges were dropped, so I was only here for a couple hours. I hope I leave
this place soon and get to XXXX. Shouldn't be up here much longer cause
its almost been 2 weeks since I got here. Up here in the hole you only get a
phone call every 30 days. It sucks.

I keep asking to speak with the Lieutenant to find out why they put me up
here, but it seems like they are ignoring me. I asked for a legal call to a
lawyer and they won't give me that either it seems. I thought they
had to. I hope everyone isn't too worried since you haven't heard from me in
a week. I was hoping that everyone would find out that I was put up here soon after
they moved me. I was asking one of the wardens a few days ago why they put
me up here and he was like, " I don't know. Something about your history
with explosives or something." He said said I had to speak with the
liutenant about it. I hate it up here, hopefully I'll get moved soon. They keep
the cells cold all day. I've just been reading and working out to make the
time go by quicker.

I stand by the cell window and try to get some sun light too. My cell this
time actually has a view. So I have something to look at. The prison is on a
federal airport/air force base, so I see planes take off and land every day.
Occasionally I see some animals outside. I saw a couple of deer yesterday I
think. I dunno why they have them here, but there's some farm or something
below me that is part of the prison because it's behind wire.

The other inmates here are cool, I haven't noticed any nazi's here. Mostly
everyone here is older. It's pretty chill for the most part. My cellie, when
I was in general population before they put me in the hole, was telling me
all about the prison and what to expect and watch out for. He's been locked
up for the past decade. My cellie here in the hole is cool too, he's telling me
what to watch out for and stuff. He say's I should do fine and time will
move quickly.

Most people up here are being transferred to USP which is maximum security
federal prison. I've heard a lot about USP, people get killed all the time
so it's a good thing they're not sending me there. XXXX is an FCI which is
medium security. Allot of crazy stuff happens in FCI too but it usually
depends on which one you're going to. I hear XXXX isn't bad, it's pretty
chill there, hopefully. My cellie said XXXX is real bad. There's
constantly fights there and it's an FCI, so I'm glad I'm not going there.
I'll probably get flown to XXXX and bussed to XXXX. The same day, so I
won't have to stay anywhere on holdover.

How is everything going on the outside? Any luck with and attorney yet? I
hope my mom isn't getting too stressed out.

My mom told me the letter to Diane Feinstein was finished.
I hope she reads it. How are all the Wilmington folks doing? I miss
going out and eating tofu and going to wild oats to get pizza, and hanging
out with chantel and going to the beach. How are the gatos doing and snoopy
and spooky, I miss cookie too. I didn't get to pet him before I left. Oh can
you try to get in contact with Dead Prez.. I wanna see if they can play a
benefit show, he's hard to get a hold of though. Anyway I'm going to try to
get some sleep. I think it's around 11 or 12am, it's hard to tell, because
there's no clock. It's hard to sleep sometimes too, because the mattress you
sleep on is too hard and it's not comfortable.

Anyway I hope you get this soon. Let everyone know that they put me in the
hole...

There's plenty you can do...

If u r part of an organisation get them to affiliate to the RTF Direct Action Network.

If you are in a union...that includes students, you can get them to make links with the organisation aswell.

Send them some money...

etc, etc..

Above all, people can give Sherman the respect he deserves and STOP CALLING HIM THE ANARCHIST CHE GUEVARA!!! He is a revolutionary, he does not want or deserve ridiculous symbolism in his name. Che's legacy has been destroyed by unrevolutionary idol worship, lets try not to do the same to Sherman.

Solidarity works wonders when we climb down from cuckoo-land and realise that it includes us aswell.
