So I have been boxing for about 5-6 years now. I go the whole nine-yard sparring, competing, etc. etc.

Anyway, on Monday I was doing some sparring and I got caught pretty good between the nose and the mouth (the corner of my right nostril to be precise). Nothing serious, I didn't really pay much attention to it until after training I realized my nose felt kind of numb. I played with it a bit (it isn't broken) and discovered when I push my nose to the left I get a pain in my two front teeth.

This is the first time something like this has happened to me in the 5-6 years I have been boxing so it isn't something I now for sure how to deal with i.e. a cut, or a fracture, etc.

You guys think it could be some nerve damage, or something else maybe? Anyone else ever experienced this? Should I wait it out to see how it goes. I've sparred two more times since Monday and it's really uncomfortable when I get even slightly clipped there, or I block it and the force goes through my glove. Anyways, any ideas of what it may be?

Also, I just noticed it isn't only when I push my nose to the left, but to the right also. If anybody can give me some advice it would be appreciated.

Do you have the same feeling when you bite down on something?

Normally what you describe is often associated with sinus problems...so maybe you just caught an unlucky blow and somethings are a bit bruised and battered. When you push your nose the cartilage in your nose pushes on your gums....which puts pressure on any sore tissue that may be there. Which may explain why you feel pain in your front teeth.

But I am NOT a medical expert. So if it persists you should definately have i checked out by somebody who is.

No, I can eat and everything. Actually its kinda gotten better, I still feel the slight pain but not as bad as it was at first. I think my nerves might not be damaged, there may just be some swelling. However, as you said if it persists I'll go talk to the doctor about it.

Yeah, it's getting better. Still doesn't feel good when getting hit, but when does that ever feel good?
