View Full Version : Come the Revolution, can we ban neckties?

Seriously, neckties are probably the worst fashion invention ever next to corsets. They look ridiculous and only serve to get dipped or caught in things. I hate having to wear the shitty, bourgeois things to job interviews because I can't stand to have things against my neck. The only way I can wear a shirt and tie without going nuts is to undo the top button and loosen the tie, which looks sloppy. I usually opt for polo shirts.
So can we ban them? Please?

Personally I'd ban all formal attire, but that'd be overly restrictive... :D

No because I got some fantastic geometric colorful 90's ties at a thrift store last week.

How about this: Neckties are banned, with the exception of those with fabulous patterns and colouring? :D

I actually like dressing up in formal attire, including with a tie. I got extreme swag power when I dress up all nice.

While we're at it, can we ban high heels for women too? Formal attire sucks.... and if you think ties are bad, high heels are the freaking worst... Being tall kinda exempts me from having to wear them though. It's like feet OPPRESSION...

Also, people who discriminate against me for refusing to wear dresses. They can all play in traffic.

I never got why high heels caught on. I always thought they looked weird and made women walk funny.

So yeah, I'd prefer not to be sent to the Gulag for being a fashion reformist or anything.

You don't need a tie to dress formal and look sharp. I prefer to dress formal and I never wear ties.

I agree, but I still like having the option of the tie open to me if I should choose to utilize it. They can really make a suit sometimes, and you can't really have a three piece suit without some sort of neck ware.
That would just be borderline silly, almost.

What?! Bro, I love putting on a suit, nice satin purple shirt, and a striped purple tie to match. I go out with swag, get to mingling with the wall street rats on the subways, and then whip out that capital vol. 1. Point being, there is a peculiar smell of shit on the subway once that happens! ( I over exaggerate, but you get the point. )

I mean, I love a decent suit as much as the next guy of the revolutionary intelligentsia, but purple?
My hat is off to you if you can actually pull that off.

Well, that's what I was referring to, more or less. A suit isn't a blazer or a comparable jacket piece, it's the end result of the compilation multiple pieces of dress attire. And in this case, I imagined the purple shirt as playing a substantial enough role in the suit to justify identifying the entire ensemble by said color.

Well in that case I apologize for the misunderstanding, and thank you :D I personally love suits, and even when I don't wear a full suit attire I'm pretty much always decked out in jeans and a nice button-down shirt.

The tie is superfluous and doesn't effect the swag variable in any way shape or form.
In fact, come to think of it a neat off the top of my head slogan could be "let's string wallstreet up by their ties!"

What?! How is the tie superfluous? It adds dynamic to the look if you pull the tie off right ( as in not just a solid color. ) And it's always an extra flirt toy so yeah. Win-Win. :D

What kind of jobs do you apply to since you have to wear a tie to them?
Or you could move to a country with a less formal dress code, our business men are always critized for not wearing formal enough wear in international business meetings.

It's superfluous in that it's exceeding in what's necessary. Further without the silk noose you are free to unbutton your shirt and expose that man mane and gold chains. Also, without the tie all she has to work with is the collar which is drastically closer to the body. Notice these great tie-less men of swagdom.

It's simple mathematics, see below formulas.
1. No-Tie = Winning.
2. Tie ≠ Winning.
3. Tie = Failure.
4. No-Tie ≠ Failure.
As I have stated before, ties are a symbol of Western capitalist decadence.
